Why HGTV Star Christina Anstead Says She’s ‘Guilty of Faking It’
Christina Anstead is one of the most popular stars of the HGTV channel. The interior designer is featured on Flip or Flop and Christina on the Coast. Recently, Anstead made headlines after she announced her split from her husband Ant Anstead. In the weeks after the news, she has been attacked for being an “absent mother.” Christina is now revealing she’s been guilty of “faking it.”
Why is Christina Anstead receiving backlash for her mothering skills?
After Christina dropped the bombshell on her fans that she was separating from Ant, she has laid low on social media. It has become rare that Christina shares photos or videos on Instagram and some fans have noticed.
Meanwhile, her estranged husband has been active on the social network. Ant has been open about his struggles in coping with divorce and heartbreak. He has also shared adorable moments with his son Hudson, whom he co-parents with Christina.
Some followers have taken Christina’s lack of baby updates as being an absent mother, something she assures her fans she is not.
“Despite what you see on Instagram most people are struggling,” Christina shared online. “When I get told, ‘you must be an absent mother because you are not with your kids,’ wake up people. I hardly post anymore … and I def do not want to post my kids every freaking day to make it a contest of who’s a better parent.”
What has Christina Anstead been faking?
Christina has seemingly read the comments from some of her followers that criticize her for not posting a lot. Despite what fans have perceived, Christina says that she is quite present in her children’s’ lives.
“Stop parent shaming people, stop choosing sides when there is no side to choose,” Christina added. “My point being – when you see stuff on here take it all with a grain of salt.”
The television personality said that what people share on social media is not a reflection of reality. Christina admitted that in the past she had faked moments, as everyone has.
“There is a whole lot of filters and fake smiles,” she continued. “I’ve been guilty of faking it too. We are all struggling – some of us are just better at ‘masking’ it.”
Ant Anstead slams trolls
Ant also received messages on his Instagram profile that claimed Christina had “abandoned” baby Hudson. The social media user was probably reacting to seeing photos of the toddler on Ant’s feed and not on Christina’s.
“Not true,” Ant replied defending the mother of his child. “Christina and I share him equally. I happen to have some time off and want all my spare moments with him.”
On the same post, another fan asked if Ant gets help to take care of his baby.
“Oh no!” the car enthusiast answered. “I’m 100% solo! No help needed and a dab hand at nappy changing.”
Although things between Christina and Ant ended up not working out, it’s nice to see that the latter still has the former’s back. They will both have to be on good terms to co-parent Hudson. Judging by Christina’s relationship with her former ex Tarek El Moussa, it’s clear that she is someone that can separate personal drama from her babies’ best interests.
