Back in 2013, the world was introduced to Tarek and Christina El Moussa, a happily-married couple and the new stars of HGTV’s Flip or Flop. Fast forward 11 years later, and things have changed drastically. Tarek and Christina split in 2016; Christina remarried twice and Tarek once, and both have children with other people. Despite some drama, the two have come through it as strong friends.

In the exes’ new show, The Flip Off, which also stars Tarek’s wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, Christina and Tarek finally have an on-air heart to heart about their marriage for the first time. And Christina apologizes, presumably for events that occurred leading up to their high-profile divorce.

Christina Haack apologizes or ‘s***’ she caused with Tarek El Moussa

The exes share a daughter and son, Taylor and Brayden, and they have always remained friendly for their kids. But Christina moved on from Tarek quickly, marrying ex-husband Ant Anstead and welcoming a son, Hudson (the two announced their breakup in 2020), which fans always assumed caused tension in her already-strained relationship with Tarek.

In a new clip from The Flip Off, a tearful Christina is seen apologizing to Tarek over “s***” she caused years earlier.

During the conversation, Christina was telling Tarek that she and ex Josh Hall had officially split up. And later in the conversation, she references her past relationship with Tarek. “I’m really sorry for s*** too,” Christina says. “I really am. I just want you to know.”

Tarek’s response is one fans might not have expected. He appears to take responsibility for the couple’s split. “I understand that feeling of being a little bit lost,” he says to Christina. “And I acknowledge that I’m a big part, if not the entire part, of all of this.”

Although things were not great between Tarek and Christina immediately post-split, the tensions have simmered to the point where the two are actually good friends. Christina also has a good relationship with Heather, which has likely helped Tarek and Christina’s own relationship.

Christina, Tarek, and Heather all filmed The Flip Off, and while Josh was supposed to be involved, the end of the relationship meant he was cut from the show. But in a recent interview, Christina said it was “easier” to film without him.

The Flip Off premieres on HGTV on January 29.
