E.J. and Nini dated during ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 1
There’s always some drama in the drama department. During season 1 of the Disney+ mockumentary, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, fans met characters like Nini, Ricky, and E.J, all characters in the East High School musical.
Ricky and Nini were best friends since childhood, but after “taking a break” for the summer, Nini came back with a new boyfriend. That was E.J. Caswell, a senior at East High with a passion for social media and theater.
Will E.J. and Nini ever get back together?
It’s not completely out of the question that E.J. and Nini will get back together. However, a relationship between these two characters is highly unlikely. Ricky aside, E.J. and Nini had a bit of a falling out during season 1.
Nini learned that E.J. sabotaged their cast member so Nini could get the main role. He did that without her permission and that was one of the reasons they broke up in the first place.
By season 2, the two are at least friendly, Nini even offering emotional support when E.J. didn’t get into his dream college. However, Ricky and Nini are in a pretty serious relationship and Gina showed some interest in E.J. during Carlos’ birthday party.
E.J. returns for ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 2
E.J. has had somewhat of an awakening for season 2 of this series. This character is now looking inward for validation and even landed the role of Gaston in East High School’s production of Beauty and the Beast.
“He’s almost a new version of himself,” Cornett said of E.J. during an interview with Pop Culturalist. “He’s trying to focus more on what’s important to him. He starts to realize that the group is super important to him, and that’s really what matters.”
“There’s more to the world than just yourself, which I think sometimes in season 1, he got caught up in focusing on how things affected him rather than how it affected other people,” he continued.
