‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’: What Grades Are Ricky and Nini In?
Even if they’re currently not in a relationship, these theater nerds share a love for each other. Nini and Ricky are two of the characters from this Disney+ original series.
Here’s what we know about the students’ grade levels at East High School from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ features the characters Ricky and Nini
When Miss Jenn discovered that the actual high school featured in High School Musical never did a stage production of the show, she had to step in.
The “drama” that ensued was High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, a mockumentary-style “show within a show,” where fictional students at this high school showed they have what it takes to bop to the top.
Two of those students were Nini and Ricky, an on-again-off-again couple who found themselves in the lead roles of the fall musical. Season 2 brought new roles and, for some time, a new school for Nini. However, these characters were in the same grade.
What grades are Ricky and Nini in?
These two were best friends turned partners. Ricky and Nini are in the same grade. At the time of season 1 and season 2 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, they’re juniors at East High School.
These characters grew up together, with Ricky even giving Nini her well-known nickname. (Apparently, when he was in elementary school, he had a hard time pronouncing “Nina.”) In turn, Nini gave Ricky his nickname because any child named “Richard” was weird.
Even though they were juniors, these characters earned the leading roles for High School Musical. During the spring semester, Ricky earned the main role in Beauty and the Beast. Most other main characters in this series are in the same grade as Nini and Ricky. That includes Ricky’s best friend, nicknamed “Big Red,” and Nini’s best friend, Kourtney.
EJ is 1 of the oldest characters in this series
Not all of the drama department members are in the same grade. Fans learned that EJ is a year older than Nini and Ricky. As a senior, this character applied to colleges and assumed he would attend Duke University. That means Beauty and the Beast is one of EJ’s final high school performances.
As one of the youngest members of the drama department, Carlos is a sophomore. Still, this character took on the responsibilities of being a choreographer for High School Musical, even earning an essential role for Beauty and the Beast.
According to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series fandom, Gina Porter is also a sophomore who transferred to East High after her mother’s job relocated her family. Episodes of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series are available for streaming on Disney+.
