Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat. Even though Gina almost moved (twice), it’s her talent and kind heart that kept her connected to the other students at East High School.

Sofia Wylie stars as Gina in ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’

Gina had a rocky start as a new student at East High School. This character was willing to do whatever it took to be the lead of High School Musical

After spending time with Ricky, Nini, Carlos, and Ashlyn, she realized how important it was the be a team player. They were all in this together. This character from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is portrayed by actor and dancer Wylie. 

This actor returned for ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 2

After being somewhat postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Disney+ released episodes of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2. Wylie returned for these episodes, as well as the High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special.

The second season of this Disney+ original meant a new musical for the theater nerds at East High School. That’s the Disney stage production of Beauty and the Beast, where Gina earned the role of Plumette (or Fifi).

This season also brought Gina closer to new characters. She became the co-choreographer with Carlos, performing a song at his quinceañero. She befriended EJ, eventually catching feelings for and confiding in the actor.

Sofia Wylie appeared in other Disney productions, including the Disney Channel series ‘Andi Mack’

Aside from her role in this Disney+ original, this actor appeared as Buffy Driscoll in Disney Channel’s Andi Mack, which aired between 2017 and 2019. Additionally, Wylie acted in the Disney Channel television series Shook and ABC’s Disney Family Singalong.

“I think I heard that I was going to play Gina about two weeks before we wrapped the season [of Andi Mack],” Wylie said during an interview with The Arizona Republic. “So I was like, dang, Utah, I am not leaving you; I will be back in a little bit.” 

“It was really exciting just knowing that I was able to move on to such a wonderful new project right at the tail end of a project that I had spent such a long time with,” she continued. Some fans also know this dancer from her social media accounts, where she dances to songs like “Dynamite” by BTS and “Cannibal” by Kesha.
