Seb stole the East High School production of High School Musical as Sharpay. As the show’s choreographer, Carlos was the mastermind behind it all. These characters went to homecoming together during High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 1.

However, some fans are wondering if the actors Joe Serafini and Frankie Rodriguez are dating in real life.

Seb and Carlos are two characters from ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’

These two are theater nerds, starring in the East High School production of High School Musical. After spending some time together in rehearsal, Carlos decided to ask Seb to the homecoming dance. After some confusion with a cow, the two danced and kickstarted their relationship.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Carlos is only the second gay regular in a Disney series; the first was Cyrus (Joshua Rush) in Andi Mack. However, this wouldn’t be the first openly gay character in a Disney+ original.

Diary of a Future President introduced viewers to Camila, who tried to provide emotional support to Bobby Cañero-Reed as he learned about his sexuality. LeFou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast caused controversy after Disney claimed the character was a member of the LGBTQ community.

Are Seb and Carlos dating in real life?

It’s not exactly confirmed what Seb’s sexual identity is, as this character isn’t as at the forefront of the series. The actor behind this character, Serafini, identifies as bisexual, while Rodriguez identifies as gay.

Outside of this Disney+ series, these actors are always seen together, both recording songs for Disney and just joining Instagram Lives to chat with fans. Serafini and Rodriguez are best friends.

No, these two have not confirmed if they’re dating. They have been considerably busy, though, working on both season 2 of the mockumentary and the holiday special.

Frankie Rodriguez commented on the representation with his character, Carlos

As one of the first openly gay Disney actors portraying an openly gay character, Rodriguez commented on the impact of Carlos on the Disney community.

“There was a flood of messages that were, like, ‘Wow, this is great. I feel seen. You’re telling my story,’” Rodriguez said during an interview with the same publication. “But it was mainly from adults who reached out and said, ‘If I would have seen this when I was in high school, I would have felt a lot less alone.’

“That’s what kind of threw me for a loop. I was like — wow, adults are actually watching this,” he continued. “For kids, it wasn’t as big a deal because being gay isn’t a big deal.”
