Hilary Duff says she does not believe in soul mates
Although Duff has gushed about Koma and their relationship, the former teen idol does not believe she and her husband are soul mates. In fact, when asked in an interview with The New York Times if she believes in the idea of soul mates, Duff responded, “Not really.”
“That might crush my husband to hear me say that,” she admitted. “Because he is absolutely the more tender, thoughtful one, and I don’t think I could do this with anyone besides him. I love him so much more than I ever thought I could love a person, and it’s just grown through us having all these damn children. I’m so happy. I thought I was just going to do it by myself forever.”
Duff explained, “But I don’t think I actually believe in soul mates. I think there are a lot of people out there that you can be compatible with, be in love with, and those scales move up and down. It’s just a matter of doing the work to find your way back together, or not.”
Hilary Duff’s character in ‘How I Met Your Father’ is searching for her soul mate
Although Duff is not much of a hopeless romantic, her character on How I Met Your Father is. Duff currently plays the main protagonist, Sophie, on the show, which is a reboot of the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Like Ted Mosby in the original series, Sophie is searching far and wide for her true love, who will also become the father of her son.
So far, Sophie has been on over 80 dates with men she met online, and these matches all fizzled out for one reason or another. However, despite the numerous setbacks, Sophie is still determined to meet find that special someone.
“She’s just trying,” Duff told Entertainment Weekly. “I think sometimes it’s really hard to keep trying and to have a smile on your face and a personality while you do it. She is effervescent. The chick’s got stamina for days. I need to be in bed by nine every night, but I also have three children. I really admire her.”
