Kotb’s announcement that she was leaving Today was met with touching reactions from co-anchors and fans. Savannah Guthrie expressed her admiration and support, calling Kotb “a sister for life.” Jenna Bush Hager, who co-hosted the fourth hour with Kotb, got emotional, saying how much Kotb had inspired her personally and professionally. At first, Craig Melvin thought NBC was forcing out Kotb, claiming that “no one leaves these jobs on their own.” But he later walked his statement back, praising her decision.

Hager pivoted her fourth-hour show to become Today with Jenna & Friends, featuring a rotating cast of guest hosts. As her co-anchors moved on, Kotb visited The Kelly Clarkson Show to announce her wellness app and company, Joy With Hoda, which will focus on retreats, a podcast, and “all kinds of things that we can get together [and do].” Kotb, elaborated, “… Something that when you leave, you’ll go like, ‘Oh my gosh, I feel transformed. I feel different.'”

She also could make several hundred thousand dollars for speaking engagements on subjects like, ‘changing your life at 60.'”
