‘Hogwarts Legacy’ State of Play Brings ‘Harry Potter’ Fans to the Wizarding World
The Harry Potter books have inspired generations to create films, video games, and more. And now Hogwarts Legacy drops players into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in a PlayStation State of Play broadcast this Thursday, March 17, 2022. The Sony PlayStation Twitter announced “an extended first look at gameplay” in a Hogwarts Legacy State of Play, showing young witches and wizards what to expect.
When is the ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ State of Play broadcast?
Sony revealed the date and time for the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play broadcast on Twitter. However, they only posted the pacific timezone. Here’s when to watch the March 2022 State of Play broadcast:
- 2:00 PM PT
- 5:00 PM ET
- 9:00 PM GMT
- 10:00 PM CET
- 6:00 AM JST (Friday, March 18)
For several fans, the broadcast takes place later in the evening. Viewers can watch it on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
“The show will run for around 20 minutes, 14 minutes of which will be made up of gameplay captured on PS5. The rest of the show will be made up of ‘insight from a few members of the team at Avalanche Software who are bringing the Wizarding World to life,’” IGN reported.
What is the ‘Harry Potter’ game ‘Hogwarts Legacy’?
Despite several delays, Warner Bros. stayed determined to release Hogwarts Legacy in 2022, possibly after Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore releases.
“Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books,” the official Hogwarts Legacy website said. “Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, [and] upgrade talents.”
However, the Harry Potter game steps back from Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and the many familiar faces for an 1800s Hogwarts. The hero also “holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. “
The adventure takes players through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with a unique ability “to perceive and master Ancient Magic.” And then the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play will show it all off.
“Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic,” the website then warns.
What platforms with the new ‘Harry Potter’ game available on?
A new Harry Potter game with a branching path system sounds tempting. Whether the Sorting Hat placed you in Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff, you’ve probably had some Dark Wizard thoughts before.
Fans might worry that Hogwarts Legacy might release as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, though. However, Microsoft Xbox and PC players can also get in on the wizarding fun.
“While it’s partnered with PlayStation for this reveal event, the game is aiming for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC,” IGN reports.
