In Honor of Valentine’s Day, Here Are the Top 5 ‘General Hospital’ Couples of All Time
General Hospital has had some pretty spicy couples over the years. But which couples — or, perhaps, throuples — are the greatest of all time? In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the notorious holiday of love, we decided to take a look at the ABC soap’s history of pairing some of the most beautiful people in Port Charles with one another. Did your favorite couple make the list? And who is the hottest couple in all of General Hospital history? Let’s take a look.
5. Sonny and Carly are the hottest ‘General Hospital’ couple right now.
They’re the couple that every General Hospital fan has a strong opinion about. You either love to hate them or hate to love them. But either way, you just can’t get enough of Sonny and Carly Corinthos. They’ve cheated on each other multiple times — and lately, Sonny has been taking up with Nina! — but they can’t get enough of each other. And hey — even if fans don’t like Sonny as a person (or a husband), they certainly love them some Maurice Benard, who has become an elder statesman of the soap genre.
4. Sam and Dante — aka #Sante — are the couple that just can’t seem to get it together
Love — it’s a beautiful thing. Especially when “love” comes in the form of mob children getting together. Talk about uniting the families! Dante, as fans of the show know, is the product of Sonny’s relationship with Olivia, while Sam is the daughter of Alexis Davis and mob boss Julian Jerome. Lately, The Powers That Be hasn’t been giving fans much of their storyline, which is a source of constant frustration for #Sante shippers. But hopefully, that all changes very soon.
3. Ned & Lois gave us Brook Lynn
Theirs was a story that started with rock’n’roll. Lois (Rena Sofer, who now stars as Quinn on The Bold and the Beautiful) spotted Eddie Maine (Ned Quartermaine) onstage, and she fell in love with him instantly. The Brooklyn-born band manager soon found herself in the middle of a terrible love triangle with “the other Mrs. Ned Ashton,” but their love won out, and ultimately, Ned and Lois gave General Hospital fans a legendary church wedding — and a daughter they named Brook Lynn, whose storyline is currently front and center with another legacy kid, whom we’ll learn about shortly. (In real life, too, Sofer and Ned’s portrayer, Wally Kurth, became a couple and had a daughter of their own named Rosabel Rosalind Kurth. Unfortunately, the pair are no longer together.)
2. Frisco and Felicia gave us Maxie
The sexiest General Hospital couple of the 1980s was definitely Frisco and Felicia Jones. Felicia is an Aztec princess and the descendant of Emperor Maximillian of Austria, while Frisco was the former lead singer of Blackie and the Riff Raff. (There was a lot of rock’n’roll in the 1980s, kids — we don’t know what else to tell ya there.) Needless to say, their partnership made them the soap’s hottest super couple, and their union produced a daughter named Maxie, who’s going through more than a few problems of her own with her baby daddy, Peter August, these days. (In real life, too, Jack Wagner and the then-Kristina Malandro became a couple and had two boys of their own. Unfortunately, the pair are no longer together, but Kristina Wagner — as she’s now known — is back on the canvas in a contract role as of January 3, 2022.)
1. And Luke & Laura are the definitive ‘General Hospital’ couple
Everybody who was alive at the time knows where they were when Luke and Laura got married on General Hospital. That alone makes them the definitive couple from the show. And the loss of Luke Spencer is still being felt on the show to this day.
