‘Hospital Playlist’ Season 3: Main Cast Tease Possibility of New Season in Reunion Photo
The cast of Hospital Playlist are playing with fans’ hearts. The hit tvN and Netflix Korean medical drama was one of the top-performing dramas in 2020 and 2021 and became one of the highest-rated on cable television. Hospital Playlist Season 2 K-drama had a tearful end that still left more to be explored. While director Shin Won-ho explained a Hospital Playlist Season 3 is not an easy decision, a cast reunion says otherwise.
Director Shin said a ‘Hospital Playlist’ Season 3 was not 100% secure
Hospital Playlist Season 2 ended with fans reaching for the tissue box as their favorite doctors enter new relationships and life adventures. A lot occurs in the finale that hade fans overjoyed, like cementing a newfound relationship with a kiss.
Ik-jun (Jo Jung-suk) and Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do) go from lifelong friends to lovers. Fans were slightly upset to learn a character would leave Korea for the United States to study medicine. Hospital Playlist tells the stories and lives of a group of doctors who became best friends in medical school and work at the same hospital.
The K-drama is one of the rare few that surpasses the one-season and 16-episode rule. Despite the popularity of the K-drama, director Shin previously stated he had no set plans for a third season. According to Soompi, a Hospital Playlist Season 3 was not in the near future due to health concerns.
“Since I’ve accumulated a lot of concerns and exhaustion from producing my first drama with more than one season, I don’t think it’ll be easy to make a decision on whether we’ll continue on with this story,” said Shin. But the main cast teased fans with the possibility.
An Instagram post and reunions tease a ‘Hospital Playlist’ Season 3
There is nothing like creating an online buzz among fans than posting a suggestive Instagram photo. On Valentine’s Day 2022, leading actor Kim Dae-myung posted a reunion photo with his castmates on Instagram. It is no ordinary reunion photo as Kim, Jeon, Jo, Jung Kyung-ho, and Yoo Yeon-seok are in their scrubs and doctor coats.
Fans might be inclined to believe it is an old photo, but it is not. In Hospital Playlist, Jung’s hairstyle was shorter, while the Instagram photo has him with long swooping hair parted to the side. Kim’s hair is also different compared to the first two seasons. The rest of the actors also look different.
The photo has fans suggesting a Hospital Playlist Season 3. What other reason would there be for the cast to pose for a photo in their scrubs. Only five days before Kim’s post, Jeon also posted a photo on Instagram alongside Shin Hyun-been and Ahn Eun-jin.
There is even a bigger possibility the reunion photo hints of a Hospital Playlist Season 3 as Jeon’s newest K-drama Thirty-Nine on Netflix is ready to premiere. Shin’s Reflection of You on Netflix has already concluded, and the rest of the cast has not appeared in new dramas.
Where would season 3 of th K-drama storyline begin?
With the possibility of a season three of the K-drama looming in the air, the second season finale gives enough details of where it could begin. In true Hospital Playlist fashion, the main characters ended the K-drama covering a hit song as a band. Fans can only hope a third season will continue the four main love stories.
In the finale, Seok-hyeong and Min-ha confirm their relationship with a kiss. Meanwhile, Jeong-won breaks the news that he and Gyeo-ul will relocate to the United States to study medicine further. Jun-wan rekindles his relationship with Ik-jun’s sister.
A Hospital Playlist Season 3 will likely start with the return of Jeong-won from the states and the relationship statuses of the K-drama’s couples. Hopefully, fans will also see the main characters dust off their instruments to cover a new song.
