2007 was a notoriously difficult year for Britney Spears. Her personal life was consumed entirely by the public as she suffered a mental breakdown that included a number of events that played out in the public eye.
These moments were captured by swarms of paparazzi photographers following her every move. They captured her shaving her head at a California salon and driving with her son on her lap. One night, they provoked Spears to the point that she infamously attacked a photographer’s car with an umbrella.

Spears has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years to focus on herself and her family. And while she isn’t bombarded with as many paparazzi outside her home anymore, they still do follow her around, especially with recent developments around her longtime conservatorship.
But Spears, 40, doesn’t let the paparazzi control her life like they did years ago. She shared an experience with photographers in an honest Instagram post.
“I had a s***ty day yesterday!!!” she said. “Paps took pics of me coming out of a public bathroom ….. I mean how embarrassing is that???? So right when I got home I had a PFC … it means ‘party for confidence’ and I swear if you have confidence struggles or low self esteem and need to practice walking with your head held high and kinda hunched over.”
“You must try it!!!!” she added. She then outlined her steps to feeling yourself. “#1 Put some heels on and a dress!!! #2 Put sparkles on your body!!!! #3 Put on Nicki Minaj and play it LOUD!!! #4 put some lip gloss on … the kind you want to eat!!! #5 Keep your head held high no matter what and just shake what ya mama gave ya!!!”
“I mean I’ve NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE EVER, she added, “except for last night of course!!!!”
Britney Spears is enjoying her new life
Since having her conservatorship terminated in November 2021, Spears has been enjoying her new life as a free woman for the first time in nearly 14 years. She celebrated her 40th birthday in Mexico with her new fiancé Sam Asghari, sharing her excitement on Instagram.
“Oh the precious joy today!!! Me and my fiancé are so excited to be going away,” she said. “As you can see I’m not 800 pounds like the paps have me in pics … I’ve been working out and it’s real … whatever!!!!”
“God thank you for being able to go out of the country!!!!” she said, alluding to the fact that she didn’t have a passport while under her conservatorship. “I am blessed!!!!”
