How Chrissy Teigen’s First ‘Normal’ Job Launched Her Modeling Career
What do you think when you hear the name Chrissy Teigen? Most people probably immediately think of John Legend. Not surprising considering the two are one of Hollywood’s cutest couples.
They met was back in 2007 while filming the music video for Stereo and have basically been at each other’s sides ever since. John Legend is well … a legend, so of course many people refer to Teigen as Legend’s wife.
Even so, Teigen has her own rags to riches story and a pretty impressive career to boot — one that deserves recognition. After all, Teigen isn’t just a mother and wife; she’s also her own woman.
Why is Chrissy Teigen famous?
Teigen is one of social media’s biggest influencers nowadays, but that certainly isn’t where her fame started. She kicked off her illustrious career as a model and eventually rose in the ranks to being a supermodel. At the start of this decade, you could barely pick up a magazine without seeing her face (and body). Maxim was one of her first covers. She’s even appeared in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue several times.
From there she added TV hostess, actress, and even author to her resume! In 2011, a decade after being discovered, Teigen had finally gained enough recognition to sit in a judge’s chair. For what show? None other than America’s Top Model. She was there for four seasons before tackling other shows including The View. That’s a far cry from a suitcase holder in Deal or No Deal, one her earliest television appearances.
Teigen also played co-host on Lip Sync Battle, and more recently Bring the Funny.
The triple threat even has acting under her belt, but that’s not surprising. What is, was her success as a cookbook author! After having kids, she decided to try a very different career direction — one that turned her into a celebrity lifestyle guru. Her books instantly became best-sellers, and she now has a trendy cookware line that calls Target home.
What’s Chrissy Teigen working on now?
Teigen just announced that she would be working with Hulu on her newest project. Unfortunately, the details are top-secret, but that hasn’t stopped Teigen from posting some pretty funny updates about the sponsorship. In the above Tweet, users who currently don’t have a Hulu membership can sign up for the popular streaming platform for just $2.99 a month.
The super-affordable membership lasts an entire six months. That’s a pretty big deal!
The TV superstar also posted a picture of her “contract” with Hulu. The contract covers the $2.99 offer but has much more shenanigans included. For one, it states that she needs to rename her adorable pups as well as adopt two more dogs. There’s even a clause about stepping out in green ensembles twice a month. The best part — weekly meetings with the Hulu legal team called Teigen Tuesdays. Oh, and tequila is apparently a staple at these meetings.
How did Teigen’s first typical job kick off her modeling career?
Teigen has come a really long way, but let’s go back to the beginning. Before all the fame and fortune a young Teigen spent her days working in a surf shop in Hamilton Beach, California. This was the early 2000s, and it was there that a talent scout found her.
He reportedly took her picture, and that prompted her to apply to a modeling agency. She was accepted. At the time the to-be supermodel was just 18 years old.
Now it’s easy to see why Teigen is so hardworking and relatable. She didn’t even step foot into a glamorous lifestyle into later in life. Before that, she worked a regular job just like everyone else.
