How Did Elon Musk and Grimes Meet?
A multimillionaire before the age of 30, Elon Musk is known for his eccentric hobbies and entrepreneurial endeavors. Born in South Africa, the Tesla Motors giant moved to the United States in 1992.
He became highly successful after launching Zip2 Corporation at the height of the internet boom. Musk’s company was acquired by Compaq Computer, and in 1999 Musk created PayPal. He sold to eBay in 2002, making his first billion.
This led to his newest endeavor, SpaceX, which is working on the development of commercial space travel. Aside from his business ventures, he has also found time for love. Social media is currently exploding with rumors that Musk is expecting another child.
Elon Musk’s family life
In 2000, Musk married Justine Wilson. Together they had six children, all boys. Their first child died from SIDS in 2002. His twin boys, Griffin and Xavier, were born in 2004. Two years later, triplets, Kai, Saxon, and Damian were born.
The couple divorced in 2008, and Musk began dating Talulah Riley, whom he eventually married in 2010. They divorced in 2012, remarried in 2013, and divorced again in 2016.
Once the rocky relationship was finally over, Musk went on to date Johnny Depp’s former girlfriend, Amber Heard. They also had an on-again-off-again relationship, breaking up in 2017, getting back together in January of 2018, and splitting up again for good in February.
In May of 2018, Musk began dating Canadian feminist alternative musician Grimes.
Musk’s relationship with Grimes
In 2018, Musk appeared at the Met Gala with Grimes on his arm. According to Page Six, the couple met online when Musk discovered a joke about artificial intelligence on Grimes’ Twitter account.
Musk reached out to Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher. With a double major in psychology and philosophy and a minor in Russian Studies, she seems to be a match for Musk’s mental gymnastics.
They started dating and, as with past relationships, have experienced an on-again-off-again romance. After the Gala, the two unfollowed each other on social media but then reconnected soon thereafter.
Grimes was recently seen with Musk in the Cybertruck prototype as they drove around Los Angeles together.
Grimes’ cryptic pregnancy announcement on Instagram
In January of 2020, Grimes posted a photo to Instagram showing her pregnant belly with a red triangle drawn on it. There was no caption, leaving people to wonder if this was real or her interpretation of art.
Musk responded cryptically to the post, saying “x is y.” Grimes posted again, with a semi-nude photo of herself, with a fetus photoshopped onto her stomach. The image was later removed from the Instagram platform. Then came a fury of memes, as the internet speculated whether Musk was the father.
In February of 2020, Grimes confirmed on Instagram that she was 25 weeks pregnant, stating, “Fake or real? Haha. Wow I’m starting to feel bad haha… how do y’all cope with working and having a baby. I’m sorry I haven’t been promoting my album properly or on social media more. This whole thing has been a bit of an ordeal. Had some complications early on, a decent second trimester but starting to hurt everywhere at 25 wksz.”
What the future holds for the couple
Musk has not posted any confirmation of becoming a father again on his Twitter account. The couple was spotted together at a Kardashian Christmas Eve party in December of 2019.
So, for now, it seems their relationship is in the on status. Only time will tell in the next few months, whether the couple has what it takes to stay together and raise a child.
