What Was’ Ink Masters’ Daniel Silva’s Relationship with YouTuber Corey La Barrie Before He Was Arrested for La Barrie’s Murder
The YouTube community is still reeling after news of YouTube star Corey La Barrie’s untimely death broke. The 25-year-old vlogger was involved in a car crash on his birthday, May 10th. He was transported to the hospital after the accident but died from his injuries.
His friend, Ink Masters star Daniel Silva, has now been arrested for murder. But what was the connection between these two men before the fatal crash?
What happened?
It has now come out that Silva was driving the 2020 McLaren 600LT that La Barrie was in. The two were driving in Valley Village when the crash occurred. According to USA Today, the LAPD said that the car was going “at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control.” The vehicle then went off the road and crashed into a stop sign and a tree.
Media relations officer Mike Lopez told the outlet that Silva was “was driving the car under the influence of alcohol, crashed and killed the passenger. So he’s been charged with murder and is in police custody.”
Silva tried to leave the scene after the crash but was “stopped by citizens who came to render aid.”
How did Daniel Silva and Corey La Barrie know each other?
Silva competed on season 10 of Ink Masters. Since then, he opened Daniel Silva Tattoos and now has over 229,000 subscribers to his own YouTube channel, so Silva was a part of the LA YouTube community as well.
Silva and La Barrie had both been at a party celebrating La Barrie’s birthday before the crash.
La Barrie’s family mourns his death
La Barrie’s brother and YouTube partner, Jarrad, posted a heartfelt message to Instagram after his brother passed.
“This isn’t something I thought I would ever have to sit here and type out for a very long time or what I wanna do right now but everyone deserves to know, my brother Corey passed away last night in a car accident with his drunk friend driving… this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” he wrote.
“I don’t [know] how I’m supposed to do this without you I miss you so much already this isn’t fair thank you for always being the best big brother I could ask for I love you so f*cking much life’s never gonna be the same without you R.I.P. P.S say hi to grandad and grandma for me I love you.”
La Barrie’s mother, Lissa Burton, also posted about her son.
“My heart breaks right now, on my son’s 25 birthday today he was very drunk and got into a car with a drunk diver,” she wrote. “The accident killed him instantly. No words can describe the sadness I feel in loosening a child. It just feels so unreal and I’m overwhelmed with grief. I love you so much Corey and will miss you so so much. It’s just so unfair.”
Reps for Silva have yet to comment on the incident. He was also transported to the hospital following the accident but did not suffer any life-threatening wounds.
