Hollywood favorite Jennifer Lawrence has gotten married! Her new husband, Cooke Maroney, is still pretty unknown to Lawrence’s fans.

The two have been publicly dating since around June 2018. Lawrence was spotted wearing an engagement ring in Feb. 2019, after which the actress confirmed their engagement.

While we wait to hear more details and hopefully see a few pictures from their recent wedding, let’s take a look at how the happy couple started their romantic relationship.

Who is Cooke Maroney?

While Lawrence had previously dated other famous Hollywood-types, like musician Chris Martin and director Darren Aronofsky, Maroney is a bit of a wildcard for Lawrence. He grew up in Vermont, where his parents own a farm and where Maroney spent his childhood years.

Then, Maroney made the move to New York as a young adult to pursue his interests in art. He studied art history at NYU and he began to make a name for himself in the Manhattan art scene.

Now, he is a high-end art gallerist, working as a director for Gladstone 64’s gallery in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. He’s been involved in online art-collecting, as he shared with Artsy in 2015, giving tips on how to utilize an online presence to get people through the doors of your art gallery.

How did Jennifer Lawrence meet Cooke Maroney?

A source close to the couple told Entertainment Tonight that Lawrence and Maroney first met when they were both “just enjoying an evening out with friends.” They were both single and immediately hit it off.

The two have a lot in common, which they picked up on right away, helping to build their relationship’s strong foundation. They both come from families with whom they’re close, enjoy spending time with friends, both have a love of travel, and they each have built strong careers for themselves.

They hit it off so well that Maroney actually made Lawrence change her views on marriage. She previously didn’t think she was anywhere close to being ready to get married, but then she met him and that all changed.

Not long after they started dating, the two knew that they wanted to marry one another. They didn’t want to spend any time apart. Their love-at-first-sight romance sparked a change in Lawrence and she knew she would marry this man who was perfect for her. They got engaged in February of this year, about eight months after they met.

Details about Jennifer Lawrence’s wedding to Cooke Maroney

While the couple has been seen out and about in New York more than Lawrence had previously let herself be seen, they still keep a pretty low profile and stay hidden from the public eye as much as possible. They were seen exiting the Manhattan Marriage Bureau in September and it was soon revealed the couple had visited the Belcourt of Newport, a beautiful mansion in Rhode Island and a well-known wedding venue.

Their private wedding weekend was a star-studded affair with guests like Adele, Kris Jenner, Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Amy Schumer, Emma Stone, and Ashley Olsen. The rehearsal dinner was held under a tent on Rose Island.

Their reception was an all-night party, a source told PEOPLE. Guests were served food from the couple’s favorite food trucks all night long to fuel their dance moves and keep the party going. Lawrence and Maroney were the last to leave the party at around 5:30 in the morning. Both of them are known for being very social people, so it’s no surprise that their wedding was a huge party, as well.
