While the early 2000s were dedicated to Chuck’s relationship with Blair on Gossip Girl, and Seth’s relationship with Summer on The O.C., the couples decided to swap partners, causing Seth and Blair to become a real-life pair! Okay, not really, but at least the actors who portrayed the two aforementioned characters are seemingly in it for the long hall.

Meester and Brody have been married for 7 years now, and they’ve been close friends for nearly a decade. They are even expecting their second child! Find out how they met, and other adorable details about their relationship below.

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody joke about being Seth and Blair

Although both Meester and Brody have moved on from playing their iconic roles in Josh Schwartz’s dramas, they sometimes joke about their relationship as Seth and Blair. Meester admits that it doesn’t play a role in their everyday lives, but every so often they put their “Seth and Blair” hats on because they know fans enjoy it. She said in her Entertainment Tonight interview, “It’s exciting to us that it’s exciting to you. It’s cool.”

Despite their “Seth and Blair” moments, both actors have openly stated that the couples they portrayed on the shows they starred in weren’t necessarily the best examples to set for viewers. Regarding Chuck and Blair’s relationship, Meester has stated, “I hope that young women aren’t looking at this and thinking, ‘I should model my relationships after this because it was so dramatic. And there was some domestic violence in there that I didn’t necessarily love.”

Meanwhile, Brody has said of Seth and Summer that his character was a bit selfish with his desires. He stated in an interview with GQ, “I do wonder if he’s selfish and that leading with your insecurities isn’t enough. I do it, but that doesn’t absolve you of everything. But different era.”

When Brody was asked about the concept of “Seth and Blair” once the public caught onto their courtship, he admitted that it was slightly embarrassing. “It’s not bizarre,” he told GQ. “To be perfectly honest, it was a little embarrassing. I guess love knows no bounds?”

How Leighton Meester and Adam Brody met

The idea of the actors coming together isn’t very difficult to fathom. Both Meester and Brody starred in Joshua Schwartz’s teen dramas, and both were featured on The CW. The two became close while filming The Oranges (2011,) where they acted alongside each other. It caused the two to become “best friends” as well as “soulmates” as Meester put it herself. A few years later, they were married and are currently expecting their second child.

While some celebrity couples relish in PDA and are constantly sharing social media posts about their relationship, (*Hem hem* Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello) others find that keeping a low profile is best for their situation. Brody and Meester are notably quiet about their relationship, although every so often the Gossip Girl actor will put out a sweet post dedicated to her hubby and vise versa.

When GQ asked The O.C. star why he liked to keep his relationship with Meester private, he had this to say:

She’s more inherently private than I am. I don’t seek publicity but if I’m sitting next to you on the subway, I’ll tell you everything about me. We’re homebodies. We don’t go to a lot of thing and perhaps we could, and don’t seek out promotion in that way. I’m not sh*ting on anyone who monetizes that aspect of their life because I get it. But we’ve found this great balance so far that really works for us. We’re also not very active on social media.”
