How Did Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston Become the Close Friends They Are Today?
It’s always fun to hear about long lasting celebrity friendships in Hollywood.
One of those being Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston‘s. The two actress have been friends for the past two-decades and their relationship continues to get stronger with each passing year.
Although they’ve been friends for a while now, many of us can’t help but wonder how exactly these two actresses came to be such close friends?
They met 20-years ago on the set of ‘Friends’
There are tons of celebrity friendships that have been established over the years but only a handful of them have been able to stand the test of time.
Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston happen to have one of those friendships.
These two actress have been friends for the past 20 years and it turns out that working together on a well-known television sitcom was how these two came to establish such a close bond.
As the cover star for Harper’s Bazaar‘s November issue, Witherspoon recently opened up about her 20-year friendship with Aniston as she recalled the first time they met.
In 1999, Witherspoon was hired to play Jill Greene, the younger sister of Aniston’s character Rachel Green.
Although it was nerve-racking at first, the Legally Blonde actress shared that Aniston was very fun to work with. Witherspoon even recalled Aniston being fascinated with the fact that she just had a baby.
“We met on the set of Friends; I played her sister,” Witherspoon shares with the magazine. “I was 23 years old and had just had a baby. I was nursing Ava on set, and Jen just kept going, ‘You have a baby?’ I was like, ‘I know, it’s weird.’ And I remember her being like, ‘Where are you going?’ And I was like, ‘I’m pumping!'”
Witherspoon then goes on to share that she’s always admired Aniston as an actress and confessed that it didn’t take long for them to establish a close friendship.
“She was so sweet to me,” she recalls. “I was really nervous, and she was like, ‘Oh, my gosh — don’t worry about it!’ I marveled at her ability to perform in front of a live audience like that with no nerves. They would change all the lines and she was just so effortlessly affable, bubbly, and sunny. We’ve been friends ever since.”
Witherspoon and Aniston are once again working alongside each other
Although it’s been years since Witherspoon and Aniston have worked together, fans will get to see these two friends star alongside one another on the highly anticipated Apple TV+ drama, The Morning Show.
Aniston is set to play Alex Levy, a news producer who runs one of the most popular news program that has excellent TV ratings and is perceived to have changed the face of American television.
Witherspoon plays Bradley Jackson, an aspiring journalist who sparks a rivalry with Levy as she seeks to take her place as producer.
Although they play rivals on-screen, their friendship off-screen is still as solid as it was 20 years ago.
“Jen is wonderful, and, again, it’s this great female partnership,” the 43-year-old actress expressed to Entertainment Tonight back in May. “I have to say, it’s a great theme in my life and the past few years. I’m just really enjoying the partnership with other women I really respect and admire.”
