What is ‘How I Met Your Father’ about?
Starring Hilary Duff, How I Met Your Father follows a young woman named Sophie as she navigates modern dating in New York. Much like How I Met Your Mother, the new series takes on a narrative format as an older Sophie (Kim Cattrall) tells her son how she met his father. Along the way, she shares stories of good times with her closest friends — Jesse (Chris Lowell), Valentina (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Ellen (Tien Tran), and Sid (Suraj Sharma).
How I Met Your Father takes inspiration from How I Met Your Mother, and the two shows do exist in the same universe. However, series co-creator Isaac Aptaker urges fans not to consider How I Met Your Father a reboot. Instead, it’s a “standalone sequel.” Director Pamela Fryman, who also worked on How I Met Your Mother, agrees.
“One thing that I can take away from it, having been on How I Met Your Mother for so long, is that this is not How I Met Your Mother,” Fryman said at the TCA winter press tour, per TVLine. “This is How I Met Your Father, and it is so spectacular in its own right.”
How many episodes are in ‘How I Met Your Father’ Season 1?
Like many of its original series, Hulu ordered 10 episodes for How I Met Your Father Season 1, per The Hollywood Reporter. The season launches on Jan. 18, which means the finale should arrive in March. Of course, that’s subject to change if Hulu encounters any unforeseen delays.
‘How I Met Your Father’ release dates and times
How I Met Your Father Episode 1, “Pilot,” and Episode 2, “FOMO,” dropped on Hulu on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 3 a.m. ET. From this point on, one new episode will drop per week every Tuesday at the same time. Sometimes it takes a minute or two for new episodes to drop, so fans should refresh the page if they don’t appear immediately at 3 a.m.

Determined to try and live in the moment, Sophie and the gang head to an exclusive new club for a wild night out. Valentina has doubts about her relationship with Charlie. Sid pushes Jesse to be open to love. Ellen tries her luck with women at the club.
