How Lauren Sorrentino Reconnected With Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino After ‘Jersey Shore’ Ended
Jersey Shore‘s favorite couple might be Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and his wife, Lauren Pesce. Many fans know that the two had a relationship before his time on Jersey Shore — one that ended so that he could film. What many fans don’t know is how the couple reconnected after the reality series ended in 2012.
‘Laurens’ is ‘The Situation’s college sweetheart
Sorrentino and Pesce dated from 2004 to 2007.
According to an interview with Us Weekly, Pesce dated Sorrentino during their time in college. When Sorrentino was cast for Jersey Shore, the couple took a break for “however long Jersey Shore was.”
The original Jersey Shore reality series aired from 2009 to 2012, which means Sorrentino was single at that time.
‘The Situation’ lived carefree while filming ‘Jersey Shore’
When fans met “The Situation,” his sole purpose was to hook up with as many women as he could on the reality series. The former male stripper would often reveal his abs to MTV cameras and women in bars.
Because he and Pesce were on a break, there was no harm in dating or hooking up on the show.
Eventually, Sorrentino and Pesce found their way back to each other
Jersey Shore came to an end in December 2012. The next spring, Sorrentino finally reconnected with Pesce.
“One night in [the] spring of 2013, I was at a kickboxing gym and he knew I was going there because I kept seeing his family there,” Pesce recalled. “He knew what class I took every night and then he showed up. We connected and that was just it.”
Pesce continued: “Even though we were on such a long break — like, years — once we reconnected, it was full steam ahead.”
Ironically, Pesce says she never ran into Sorrentino while he was filming Jersey Shore. “He never moved out of New Jersey, but I never ran into him,” she explained. “I had friends and family and people that would always run into him. In, like, five or six years, however long that break was, I never ran into him. It was kind of like fate.”
Jersey Shore ended, giving the two time to get to know one another all over again. By the time Jersey Shore: Family Vacation started, Sorrentino was in a committed relationship with Pesce. Eventually, he proposed to her on the show.
The Sorrentino’s marriage remains strong
Sorrentino celebrates his wife regularly on social media. He shared a sweet throwback photo of he and Pesce on Instagram.
“Beside every strong Man is an even Stronger Woman,” he captioned the photo, adding the hashtag “College Sweethearts.”
Sorrentino’s Jersey Shore castmates loved the photo and the relationship it represents. “This was a 2004 Christmas/New Years trip with my family,” Pesce commented.
Pesce believes she and Sorrentino were made for each other. “I feel like he is my soulmate and I don’t think everyone gets the opportunity to find their soulmate in life, but if you do, you find a way to power through and make it work,” she told Us Weekly in November 2018.
