In the award-winning Disney+ series, Carl Weather is seen on screen as Greef Karga, a character known for leading the Bounty Hunters’ Guild. For the past two seasons audiences have enjoyed watching Gina Carano as Cara Dune, but, unfortunately, as PBS shared, due to one of Carano’s controversial social media posts, the star was fired from the production.
However, of course, the show would not be complete without The Mandalorian. Pedro Pascal is the remarkable actor who has been taking on this role. Pascal’s performances have resulted in a lot of positive attention and praise, but take a look back at where it all began for the star and how he managed to land one of the most iconic roles on The Mandalorian.
Pedro Pascal’s journey in the spotlight
IMDb is one of the many sources to recap Pascal’s unique and interesting life. Born in Chile, Pascal’s parents moved him and his sister to America at a young age.
In his interview with Variety he shared how his family would often go to the movies as a way to learn about the American culture. Pascal’s acting career took off in the 1990s, and he began appearing in television shows like Good vs Evil and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In 2009 the ambitious actor landed a recurring role on The Good Wife.
The star is typically associated with his character Oberyn Martell from HBO’s Game of Thrones. However, more recently, Pascal is being recognized for his performances in The Mandalorian.
How Pedro Pascal got his part on ‘The Mandalorian’ without even trying
Pascal was caught off guard when he was offered the role of The Mandalorian.
Patty Jenkins, a famous director best known for Wonder Woman 1984, was one of the people vouching for the charming actor. In his interview with Variety Pascal explained, “It was a f—ing offer,” Pascal says in an incredulous whisper. “I wasn’t really grasping that Patty wanted to talk to me about a part that I was going to play, not a part that I needed to get. I wasn’t able to totally accept that.”
Jenkins had remembered Pascal from a pilot a few years back, and clearly Pascal made an impression.
Favreau, the showrunner of The Mandalorian, was also gunning for Pascal’s presence on the series. Ultimately, this was part of what led to Pascal landing the legendary role without really having to try at all.
