How Many Children Does Chef Gordon Ramsay Have?
We know Gordon Ramsay best for his loud, rambunctious, and scolding nature as a top celebrity chef. We’ve seen him scream in the faces of incompetent contestants on his show, Hell’s Kitchen, and we’ve also seen him completely turn failing restaurants around in Kitchen Nightmares. While Gordon certainly seems intimidating, we know he has a softer core than he lets on, as we’ve seen how much he loves his wife and his family.
So, how many children does Gordon have? Here are the family details you may have missed, as well as information on his wife’s current pregnancy.
Gordon Ramsay has four children with his wife, Tana
Gordon and Tana Ramsay have been through their ups and downs, but they’ve still managed to sustain a 22-year marriage. According to Bustle, the two met when Tana was just 18 and dating another British chef. As soon as she was single, though, Gordon swooped in and took her on a date. They then married in 1996 and have been going strong ever since. As Tana explains of her husband, “Gordon just loves winding people up. Absolutely loves it. You have to understand him to know what he’s like, and I understand him absolutely.”
As for their kids, Delish explains they have four kids together. Meghan, their oldest, is 21 and has quite the following of her own, as she’s made appearances on food shows over the years. Holly and Jack, the twins, are 19. And Matilda, the baby of the family, is just 17. It looks like Matilda is following in her father’s footsteps, too, as she already has her own cooking show and cookbook.
He was deeply affected by the miscarriage of his fifth child
Having children was never easy for Tana, as Delish notes she was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome that made it more difficult. Additionally, Gordon said, “I had a very low sperm count on the back of standing in the kitchen for that length of time close to the stove.” For this reason, the two turned to in vitro fertilization, which abled them to have all four of their kids. Unfortunately, Tana miscarried with the fifth child in 2016, and it affected the couple greatly.
Daily Mail Online notes Tana was five months into the pregnancy when she lost the child. Through their grief, it seems the experience brought their family even closer together, though. “You realise how lucky you are and you reflect on what you have, how fortunate you are with your remaining children and you remind yourself of what you’ve got. It’s made the family unit even tighter,” Gordon said.
Now, Tana is pregnant again with baby No. 5
Tana and Gordon had exciting news early on in 2019, and that’s that they’re expecting their fifth child. Daily Mail explains the Ramsay family made the big reveal on Instagram while wishing their followers a happy New Year. In the little reveal video, the camera pans to each member of the Ramsay family as they give their well wishes, and then it finally settles on Tana’s noticeable baby bump.
Tana and Gordon made their first joint appearance since the big news on Jan. 7 at a GQ dinner in London to honor London’s Fashion Week for men. They looked elated to share the news with the public, too. Even Gordon was cracking quite a few smiles.
