How Megan The Stallion’s “Savage” Remix Helped Beyoncé Make Billboard Chart History
Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” was already hugely successful thanks to the dance craze that has dominated TikTok and Instagram. Her remix featuring her Houston-bred counterpart Beyoncé both shocked and elated fans as the Queen Bey is known to be selective with who she chooses to collaborate with.
It turns out that Stallion’s popularity has added to Beyoncé’s growing musical legacy. It was just announced that with the addition of the “Savage Remix,” Beyoncé has now earned a new record on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

“Savage” was released as part of Stallion’s current project, Suga. Prior to “Savage,” the EP spawned two Billboard Hot 100 hits with “B.I.T.C.H.” and “Captain Hook.” Thanks to a dance challenge birthed by a fan of Stallion, the song became an anthem on social media, with regular folk and some of the top celebrities posting their own version of the dance online.
Some celebrities that took part in the “Savage” challenge included Jessica Alba, Ryan Destiny, Normani, Chanel Iman, and Lisa Rina. Stallion took the song a step further when she released the remix with a surprise feature with Beyoncé. The song took off, with fans labeling it as the potential ladies anthem of the year.
The collaboration was a dream come true for Stallion. She’d previously spent time with Beyoncé after she was invited to a New Year’s Eve bash hosted by the star and her husband, Jay-Z. The rapper is also signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management.
Stallion expressed her excitement about working with Beyoncé in an Instagram post, writing, “I’m literally crying 😭 being from HOUSTON MF TEXAS this s**t means EVERYTHING to me !!!! SAVAGE REMIX FT THE QUEEN @BEYONCE OUT NOW!
The song went to number one on iTunes and trended at the top spot on YouTube. All money raised from the sales of the single will support COVID-19 efforts in their hometown of Houston, Texas.
“Savage Remix” marks Beyoncé’s first entry on the Hot 100 chart in 2020, giving her a song on the chart every year for the past 24 years
According to Chart Data, Beyoncé hopping on the “Savage Remix” gives her a record of having at least one song on the Hot 100 chart each year since 1997. The song shot to number two on the chart, as reported by Rolling Stone on May 11. The news was announced in a tweet and includes songs with her group Destiny’s Child, solo tracks, and features.
@Beyonce has now charted at least one song on the Hot 100 in each of the last 24 years (1997-2020).
Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson congratulated her daughter in an Instagram post.
“Congratulations Beyoncé’ you’ve been doing the damn thing since you were 16 years old. The Meghan the Stallion remix Savage makes the 2020 list! Congrats Meghan,” she wrote.
Other songs of Beyoncé’s to make it on to the chart include “Crazy In Love,” “Drunk In Love,” “Halo,” and “Single Ladies.” The news is huge, considering Beyoncé’s career spans 24 years with her debut with Destiny’s Child in 1997. This means that the triple threat has had a top song on the chart since the start of her career.
