RaeLynn went on ‘The Voice’ when she was 18 years old
RaeLynn auditioned for the second season of The Voice, which aired in 2012. At the time, she was just another country music hopeful in Nashville. RaeLynn shared that she was encouraged to try out for The Voice while writing music.
“I watched Season 1 and I was thinking that I would love to do it,” she said in an interview with Reality Wanted. “I loved Blake and I loved all the artists on there. I got a music manager and went back and forth to Nashville and kind of forgot about the show. I was writing with a girl on the show, from Team Adam, and she said, ‘Please tell me you’re auditioning for The Voice.’ And that’s how it happened!”
Going on The Voice would turn out to be a great decision for her career. RaeLynn auditioned with the song “Hell On Heels” by Pistol Annies, and both Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turned around for her. She eventually chose to go on Shelton’s team.
Throughout the show, RaeLynn was able to showcase her vocal prowess and earned many fans. However, she was eliminated during Week 3 after singing The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young” as her last chance song.
RaeLynn’s career after ‘The Voice’
Of course, The Voice was just the start of RaeLynn’s career. She got signed to Republic Nashville after leaving the show and began releasing her own music.
Her first single, “Boyfriend,” was released in late 2012. RaeLynn performed the song at the semifinal results show on the third season of The Voice, and it also peaked at No. 32 on the U.S. country chart.
In 2013, RaeLynn also worked with her former coach on The Voice, Blake Shelton, on his single “Boys ‘Round Here.” She was a backup singer alongside the Pistol Annies.
A year later, RaeLynn released her most popular song yet – “God Made Girls.” The song charted at No. 7 and got certified platinum. She performed it on the seventh season of The Voice.
Over the next few years, RaeLynn would continue to release more songs, such as “For A Boy,” “Love Triangle,” and “Queens Don’t.” Her 2017 album, Wild Horse, also charted at No. 1 on the U.S. country chart and sold over 100,000 copies.
In 2019, RaeLynn announced that she had signed to Florida George Line’s label, Round Here Records. She also released a song in November called “Bra Off.”
