How old is Ricky Gervais?
The comedian and actor was born June 25, 1961, in Reading, Berkshire, England. He is currently 58-years-old. His parents raised him as the youngest of three siblings in Whitley, Berkshire.
In 1980, the writer enrolled in the University College London, where he studied philosophy. As a senior, he formed a new wave pop duo group named Seona Dancing with his friend, Bill Macrae, and they landed a deal with London Records.
He also managed a band before gaining a reputation as a controversial critic and became one of the first to offer a weekly podcast in 2005.
The comedian skyrocketed in the early 2000s after creating and starring in docu-soap parody for BBC, The Office, earning a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy. The success of the show spun-off remakes in Sweden, France, Germany, Quebec, Brazil, and of course, the United States.

In 1982, as a student at UCL, Gervais met author Jane Fallon. They have lived together since 1984 and have a cat named Ollie. The couple decided against marriage because they don’t understand the point in “having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God” as they don’t believe in religion.
They also chose not to have children because the couple doesn’t want to “dedicate 16 years of their lives,” and they think “there are too many children.”
Jane began her career as a television producer and worked on popular series EastEnders (1985-1994), This Life (1996-1997), Teachers (2001), and 20 Things to Do Before You’re 30 (2002).

The comedian first hosted the Golden Globe Awards in 2010 and then returned in 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2020, for a total of five times. When he hosted the 67th ceremony in 2010, it marked the first time the awards were broadcast live.
In 2011, viewers crticized the comedian’s performance for how he roasted celebrities, including Mel Gibson, Robert Downey Jr., Bruce Willis, and Angelina Jolie.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian admitted he regretted a joke regarding Tim Allen but didn’t reference the others. He also faced criticism from his lack of energy during the 73rd Golden Globe Awards.
