How many times has she been married?
Anne has been married twice. The princess wed Captain Mark Phillips, an Olympic equestrian and retired military officer, in 1973. They had two children together — a son, Peter, in 1977 and a daughter, Zara, four years later.
Because Captain Phillips did not have a royal title himself, neither one of his kids were born with one. However, Queen Elizabeth offered to give them courtesy titles but Anne and Phillips declined. The reasoning was so Peter and Zara could have a normal childhood.
“I’m very lucky that both my parents decided to not use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do,” Zara told People.
In 2010, Peter and his then-wife, Autumn Kelly, welcomed Anne’s first grandchild, Savannah. The couple had another daughter, Isla, in 2012.
Two years later, Anne’s daughter gave birth to her first child, Mia, with husband Mike Tindall. Their second little girl, Lena, was born in June 2018, followed by their son, Lucas, in 2021.
The Princess Royal’s second husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, is a retired British naval officer and former equerry to the queen. He and Anne tied the knot in Scotland on Dec. 12, 1992.
