How Prince Andrew’s Scandal Is Affecting Princess Beatrice’s Dream Wedding
Prince Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the subsequent interview is having a profound impact on the royal family and especially his daughters. Aside from being removed from his royal duties, Princess Beatrice is also having to pump the brakes on her grand wedding plans. After announcing her engagement last September, Princess Beatrice is set to tie the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi later this year. But instead of enjoying a lavish ceremony like her sister, Princess Eugenie, Beatrice is reportedly having to scale things down in light of Prince Andrew’s scandal.
Princess Beatrice rethinks wedding plans amid Prince Andrew drama
Beatrice has been very quiet about her upcoming wedding. Royal experts, however, believe that she will have to dial things back because of Prince Andrew’s embarrassing scandal.
According to Page Six, royal expert Jennie Bond claims that the royals are scaling down Beatrice’s wedding to avoid another controversy with Andrew. A few weeks ago, Andrew stepped down from his royal duties in light of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Prince Andrew also canceled his upcoming birthday party, which was supposed to be held inside Buckingham Palace in February.
“But also, I think they’re going to have to rethink the arrangements for Beatrice’s wedding,” Bond stated.
Bond added that Beatrice originally wanted an opulent wedding similar to Eugenie’s in 2018. Princess Eugenie tied the knot inside St. George’s Chapel, which caused quite a stir with the public over how much the wedding cost.
The royals reportedly want to avoid another controversy, especially on the heels of Andrew’s recent debacle.
Inside Prince Andrew’s scandal
Andrew has previously faced accusations that he slept with one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre. Epstein has denied the allegations, though his connection to Epstein has fueled the reports.
A few weeks ago, Prince Andrew tried to clear his name in what turned out to be a disastrous interview. Since then, he has been keeping a low profile and stepped down from his royal duties.
He even missed out on Beatrice’s engagement party last month, though sources claim that he still plans to walk her down the aisle. Prince Andrew has not commented on his daughter’s wedding plans, but it is pretty clear that the royals are keeping him out of the public eye.
Epstein committed suicide while awaiting charges on sex-trafficking in a jail in Manhattan. Although Prince Andrew has maintained his innocence, experts believe things will only get worse for him in 2020.
“I don’t think it’s going to go away, the Epstein scandal, his long-standing friendship with this convicted pedophile now dead,” Bond shared. “I think there will be further revelation.”
When will Princess Beatrice tie the knot?
Beatrice and Mozzi announced their engagement at the end of September. Mozzi proposed during a trip to Italy and even helped design her gorgeous ring.
Eugenie snapped photos of the couple for their big announcement, and royal watchers were thrilled at the prospects of another royal wedding. The pics were later shared on social media, and several members of the royal family congratulated the couple.
“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married,” they wrote alongside the pics.
Buckingham Palace later confirmed the engagement and revealed that the wedding will happen sometime in 2020. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson also confirmed the happy news with posts on social media. An official date, however, has not been revealed and likely won’t until we get closer to the ceremony.
Experts believe that Beatrice and Mozzi will exchange vows by June. Her sister got hitched in the fall of 2018, so there is a strong chance Beatrice will avoid having a similar wedding anniversary.
Where will the wedding take place?
The royals have exchanged vows in a number of different venues over the years. Princess Diana, for instance, married Prince Charles inside St. Paul’s Cathedral. While Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson both made the big commitment at Westminster Abbey.
Eugenie, meanwhile, followed in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s footsteps and walked down the aisle inside St. George’s Chapel, which is located in Windsor Castle.
The royals have not revealed where Beatrice is planning on tying the knot. But there is a good chance that the wedding takes place at the Guards Chapel. Andrew is a Colonel with the Grenadier Guards, making this an ideal location for him.
As fans will recall, Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles used the venue back in 2005 to get hitched. We do not know if this will be the location of Beatrice’s wedding, especially if the reports about Andrew are true.
Hopefully, Beatrice will still get the wedding she wants without attracting too much attention towards her father. If not, it sounds like the royal family will do anything to keep Prince Andrew from another embarrassing situation.
