How are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle adjusting to their role as new parents to baby Archie? According to insiders, the couple is reportedly “nesting” at their new home at Frogmore Cottage and have settled in with their new addition quite nicely.
Prince Harry and Markle haven’t been parents for too long
Prince Harry and Markle’s first child was born just last month so there’s definitely been some adjusting with a newborn in their home, including the general lack of sleep that parents experience when raising a little one.
In order to ease the sleep deprivation and respond to the demands of baby Archie, it’s believed that the couple are dividing their parenting tasks, with Markle breastfeeding and Prince Harry doing diaper duty and cooking for guests.
Royal commentator Carolyn Durand told Elle.com that Prince Harry has been “over the moon” about their new child and “makes tea” for the visitors who come to meet Archie.
Durand noted that, according to one royal source, “[Archie] is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. They couldn’t be happier.”
Prince Harry looked unhappy at Trooping the Colour
All eyes were on Markle in her first public appearance since Archie was born when she attended Trooping the Colour to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.
Harry, many royal fans believed, didn’t look that happy at the event, with some chalking it up to the prince losing out on sleep with a baby in the house.
The couple reportedly have had some lack of sleep but are ”enjoying every minute of it” and going on long walks at the grounds of Frogmore Cottage. They’ve also been enjoying friends and family coming to visit their home, with guests including Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and Markle’s friends Jessica Mulroney and Serena Williams.
Markle’s mom Doria Ragland went back home
For a short time, the couple had some extra help from Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, and reportedly “loved” having her there for assistance. The couple don’t have the help of a nanny and relied on Ragland to provide support.
Ragland was said to have been “indispensable” to the first-time parents and they were “grateful” to have her at Frogmore Cottage.
Prince Harry and Markle are said to be taking walks with Archie at Frogmore Cottage, where they’re able to enjoy privacy. One insider noted: “It is providing the family with so much happiness! For them all to be able to walk freely and enjoy the beautiful area is such a sensational treat!”
Additionally, last month, Johnny Hornby, chairman of Harry’s charity Sentebale, explained how thrilled the couple are with their new role, noting that “Harry can’t ‘take his eyes or his hands off him.’”
Polo star Nacho Figueras, a close friend of Prince Harry’s, said the new dad is “an amazing father,” telling PEOPLE: “He seems to be really, really happy so I’m very happy and excited for him.”
He added: “I’ve been saying this for a long time, he’s a person that loves children. I’ve seen him interact with children for a very long time in all these things that we do in Africa so I’m not surprised he’s an amazing father.”
