Yellowstone season 4 is almost here. And to celebrate the highly-anticipated premiere, Taylor Sheridan’s western is offering fans the chance to win a trip to the real-life Dutton Ranch. In the week leading up to the season 4 premiere, Yellowstone is conducting a weeklong nationwide scavenger hunt via the show’s Twitter account — which builds off the mystery of the season 3 cliffhanger finale.
Fans should follow the ‘Yellowstone’ Twitter account for a chance to win
Starting on November 1, the Yellowstone Twitter account began sharing clues to the location of six “landmarks” that are hidden across the United States. One new landmark will be announced each day through Saturday, November 6.
Fans who correctly guess the locations will qualify to win a variety of different related prizes. The grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to the Chief Joseph Ranch in Montana, which is the filming location of the Dutton Ranch.
On the date of the season 4 premiere — Sunday, November 7 — everyone who guessed the correct locations must compete in a fandom test known as the Yellowstone Quick Draw Quiz. The first fans to correctly answer the Yellowstone trivia questions will win the prizes.
Scavenger hunt details
Each day between November 1 and November 6, the Yellowstone Twitter account is dropping three clues for fans to locate “an IRL Yellowstone landmark anywhere in the U.S.” One landmark will be revealed per day.
To find out more about the hunt — and to submit guesses — fans should go to the Finding Yellowstone website. There, they will be tasked with identifying the specific location (city and state) that the Yellowstone landmark is located in before it is revealed at the end of each day.
The clues for day one of the ‘Yellowstone’ scavenger hunt
The Monday, November 1 clues for the first day of the scavenger hunt were:
- “We’re kicking things off in the Eastern Time Zone
- “Today’s location is so nice, they named it twice.”
- “This ranch, it ain’t like no place you’ve ever worked. And this city, it never sleeps.”
The official Twitter account revealed at the end of the day that the correct answer was “New York City.” Fans who submitted a correct guess to the Finding Yellowstone website before the Twitter account posted the answer are now qualified to take part in the Yellowstone Quick Draw Quiz on Sunday, November 7.
The Dutton family log cabin is located on the Chief Joseph Ranch
All of Yellowstone season 4 was filmed entirely in the state of Montana, in and around the city of Missoula. The location that fans know as the Dutton family log cabin on the Yellowstone Ranch is actually a real-life 5,000-square foot mansion that is located at the Chief Joseph Ranch.
Filming locations inside the main house include the lodge’s great room, back porch, front porch, heli pad, and kitchen. On the outside, they’ve filmed at the bunkhouse, barns, armory, cabins, corrals, and arena.
But that property isn’t just a Yellowstone filming location. The Chief Joseph Ranch is a real-life working cattle ranch, and that cabin is a family home. When the show isn’t in production, the ranch doubles as a vacation spot with cabins for rent.
‘Yellowstone’ fans can book a stay at the Dutton Ranch
Fans can’t book a stay at the massive Dutton log cabin. But, they can stay on the Chief Joseph Ranch in one of the two cabins — which have both been featured on the show.
The Fisherman Cabin — AKA Lee Dutton’s cabin in season 1 and Rip Wheeler’s cabin in season 3 — is available to rent. As is the Ben Cook Cabin, which was Rip’s in season 1 before it became Kayce’s in season 2.
Both cabins sleep a maximum of eight guests and feature a full kitchen and outdoor grill. The ranch doesn’t provide meals. But, there is a market close by and several restaurants in the towns of Darby and Hamilton.
Availability is limited, and the property is booked well into next year. However, fans who don’t win the scavenger hunt — but still want to visit the Dutton ranch IRL — can call the property at (406) 821-0894 or visit their website to inquire about availability and get more info.
Yellowstone season 4 premieres Sunday, November 7 with a special two-hour event on the Paramount Network.
