Hulu Accidentally Releases ‘How I Met Your Father’ Season 1 Episode 9 Early
Surprise, How I Met Your Father fans! Hulu released How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9 slightly earlier than expected. Unfortunately, it was a mistake, and the streaming service has now taken it down. But some fans were able to watch the episode in its entirety.
‘How I Met Your Father’ Season 1 Episode 9 came out early
Unsuspecting fans were in for a surprise when they opened Hulu this morning, on March 4. How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9, “Jay Street,” was available to watch during the morning and early afternoon. The ninth installment of the show’s first season was supposed to air at midnight ET on Tuesday, March 8, during its regular timeslot. And that is now when it will come back on Hulu.
One fan on Twitter wrote, “Did [Hulu] release [episode] 9 of [How I Met Your Father] early? Not complaining at all.”
Another person said, “I don’t know if Hulu made a mistake dropping episode 9 of [How I Met Your Father] early or if this is a gift … either way, I’m watching [right now].”
Hulu has not yet commented on the episode’s early release. But they did pull it from streaming, so fans can no longer watch it.

The synopsis for How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9 reads, “A parental wrench is thrown into Sophie’s plan for the day. Jesse deals with the aftermath of a truth bomb. Charlie tries to get the gang excited about soccer.”
Episode 8 ended with a couple of surprising developments. Jesse’s ex-girlfriend Meredith is back in town, and she wants to warn Jesse about her new music coming out. Sophie finally took the perfect photo — of Jesse — to give to Naomi Reisberg, the owner of a prominent gallery. And after realizing that Drew wants her to find a real job and stop pursuing photography, Sophie kisses Jesse.
Technically, Sophie cheated on Drew with Jesse. So there are sure to be ramifications for their actions in How I Met Your Father Season 1 Episode 9. Plus, “Jay Street” is the penultimate episode of the show’s first season, so big things are bound to happen.
The show is renewed for season 2
Thankfully, How I Met Your Father will not end after season 1. Hulu renewed the comedy for a supersized second season. How I Met Your Father Season 2 will contain 20 episodes, as opposed to the 10 episodes in season 1.
Per TVLine, Jordan Helman, Head of Scripted Content at Hulu Originals, said, “[Series creators] Isaac [Aptaker] and Elizabeth [Berger]’s inspired vision for How I Met Your Father has proven to be true appointment viewing that fans cannot get enough of week to week.”
He added, “The lives of these characters, as portrayed by the immensely talented cast led by Hilary Duff, are just starting to unfold, and we’re thrilled to bring more of this group’s journey to our viewers with a supersized second season.”
