Hulu’s 2020 Black Friday Deal: New and Upcoming Shows and Movies You Can Watch If You Sign Up
Hulu has a gift for you. The streamer is bringing back its Black Friday promotion for the third year in a row. If you’ve been on the fence about signing up for the service behind such Emmy-nominated shows as The Handmaid’s Tale and Little Fires Everywhere, this deal — which slashes the monthly price of Hulu’s ad-supported plan by 66% — could sway you.
Get Hulu for $1.99 a month
In 2020, Hulu is once again offering a big discount on its cheapest streaming plan, which normally costs $5.99 per month. That gets you access to a library of thousands of on-demand titles, including originals such as High Fidelity and next-day streaming of The Bachelorette, Grey’s Anatomy, and other popular shows, as well as movies such as Run and I Am Greta.
Beginning at midnight on Thanksgiving Day, new and eligible returning subscribers can sign up for Hulu’s ad-supported plan for just $1.99 a month. That saves you $48 over the course of the next year. The offer is good through 11:59 p.m. PT on Nov. 30 — aka Cyber Monday. Sign up at Hulu.com.
‘Hardy Boys’ and more original shows coming to Hulu
Once you subscribe to Hulu, you’ll be able to watch news series such as Hardy Boys (available Dec. 4) as well as season 2 of Madagascar: A Little Wild (Dec. 11) and Letterkenny Season 9 (Dec. 26).
Upcoming Hulu originals that don’t yet have a release date include Only Murders in the Building, starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short; The Girl From Plainville, a series inspired by the “texting-suicide” case of Michelle Carter and starring Elle Fanning; and a six-episode docuseries called The Next Thing You Eat, about our changing world and how it affects the food we consume.
‘Happiest Season’ and more new movies coming to Hulu
Hulu’s contribution to this year’s wave of holiday films is Happiest Season, a rom-com that stars Kristen Stewart as Abby, who is meeting her girlfriend Harper’s (Mackenzie Davis) family for the first time at Christmas. Abby plans to propose during dinner, but realizes Harper has kept their relationship a secret from her family. Happiest Season premieres Nov. 25.
Recent releases coming to Hulu in December include She Dies Tomorrow, a psychological thriller about a young woman who wakes up convinced she is about to die (available Dec.4); the horror film Black Ops (Dec. 5); and Waiting for the Barbarians, about a group of men (Mark Rylance, Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson) at an isolated frontier settlement in the British Empire (Dec. 5). The Secret Garden, a 2020 adaptation of the classic children’s novel that stars Colin Firth arrives on Hulu Dec. 6. Valley Girl, a musical remake of the 1983 teen comedy of the same name is streaming from Dec. 7.
Rent-a-Pal, Spy Cat, Endless, You Cannot Kill David Arquette, and Hope Gap land on the streaming service later in December.
