‘I Love a Mama’s Boy’: Season 3 Episode 2 Recap
I Love a Mama’s Boy Season 3 Episode 2 was full of drama. A lot happened between the reality TV couples. Shekeb has doubts about Emily, Abbey feels disrespected by Tre, Robert is afraid of his mother, and Matthew is about to introduce the new lady in his life. Here’s what happened last time.
Matthew and Kelly
Matthew tells his mother he has a new lady in his life (Britney). His mom (Kelly) says she is guarded, but she will try to keep an open mind about Britney. Matthew says it’s hard to find someone who meets all his mother’s expectations. Kelly says this time around, she is going to play “hardball” when it comes to assessing the new woman in Matthew’s life.
Shekeb and Emily
Shekeb says moving into an apartment with Emily has been a steppingstone in their relationship. He feels like it has made them closer. However, he worries that he hurt his mother’s feelings by moving out.
Shekeb’s mother doesn’t like Emily, so she asks him to meet Yussura, the daughter of her close friend. Shekeb had reservations about meeting her, but when he did, he realized they had a lot in common.
Shekeb said talking to Yussura was like having a conversation with himself. He realized his relationship with Emily needs a lot of work after he met with Yussura. He told her that his relationship with Emily is a “mess.” According to him, their relationship is not going well.
Tre and Abbey
Abbey is upset because Tre has never taken her out for Valentine’s Day. Instead, he takes his mother out because it’s her birthday. This year, however, Abbey wants to come along and spend the day with them. Tre says he has to check in with his mom and make sure it’s OK for Abbey to come.
“Valentine’s Day is my mom’s birthday,” says Tre during the show. “That’s like big—bigger than big. That’s a holiday, pretty much.” Abbey doesn’t know what the future holds for her and Tre. She is concerned about how devoted he is to his mother.
Robert and Kristy
Robert’s mother, Nancy, wants him to take a DNA test because she doesn’t believe one of his daughters is his. Robert believes both his daughters are biologically his, but he feels he must get a DNA test because his mother asked him to. He says he is afraid to stand up to his mother. Robert is struggling with keeping his mother happy and his wife happy at the same time.
Unfortunately, this situation is putting a lot of strain on Robert. He has been having a tough time concentrating during his boxing sessions. His coach told him that his responsibility is to honor his mother, not keep her happy. Instead, he should focus on keeping his wife happy.
Robert and Kristy’s romantic date was ruined when he brought up the DNA test. Kristy tells Robert she is insulted by the request because it’s implied that she can’t be trusted. Robert says he just wants to keep his mother quiet, so he’s trying to fulfill her request. Kristy doesn’t see things his way and walks out of their dinner date.
