Quarterback Anthony Richardson was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but his career in the league hasn’t gone smoothly.

Injuries hampered his rookie season with the athlete missing significant time and undergoing surgery for an AC joint sprain in his shoulder.

He started off the 2024 season as a starter and ended up missing Weeks 5 and 6 with an oblique injury. Then in Week 8, something bizarre happened when he voluntarily took himself out for one play in the third quarter against the Houston Texans. Confused reporters asked him about that after the game to which he stated that he was “tired” and “needed a break.” In Week 9, Colts head coach Shane Steichen decided to bench the quarterback in favor of veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco.

One woman who has been by Anthony’s side through all his ups and downs is his fiancée, Jada Richardson (and yes by coincidence they happen to already share the same last name). Here’s more about the couple and their relationship.

Anthony and Jada are high school sweethearts

Anthony was born on May 22, 2002, in Miami. He was raised by his single mother, Cleare, who amid concerns of gun violence in the area decided to relocate to Gainesville, Florida.

“It was hard. I struggled,” Cleare told NFL.com. “We didn’t have much. I had to work several jobs, a lot of hours without much sleep to pay for clothes, food, rent, and bills … I did the best I could. I wanted my kids to be better than me and have a much better life.”

When he was a teenager Anthony attended Eastside High School in Gainesville, which is the same school Jada went to, and that’s where they met and started dating.

According to Playersbio.com, the athlete proposed to his then-girlfriend and they got engaged in October 2020. However, four years later they made another public announcement about the news when Jada showed off a new diamond ring on her finger via Instagram.

What Jada’s occupation is

Anthony’s bride-to-be was born Sept. 30, 2001, to parents Bull and Nikki-Harris Richardson. Jada has a brother, Noah, and a sister, Zion.

After graduating from Eastside High School together, Anthony enrolled in the University of Florida while Jada went to Florida A&M University about two hours away. There she majored in nursing and earned her degree.

In 2022, she opened a doula services company for expectant mothers. A birth doula is a trained medical professional who provides pregnant women with emotional and physical support for the duration of the birth process.

The quarterback’s youngest fan

Jada is active on social media. She has around 5,000 friends on Facebook and boasts over 5,000 followers on Instagram.

In February 2024, she and Anthony announced that they were expecting a child. Anthony Richardson Jr. arrived on March 17, 2024. Their little one has already attended his first NFL game. While Jada has always shown support for her man when he plays on Sundays sharing posts of her game-day outfits, she decided to bring the quarterback’s youngest fan to a Colts preseason game so Anthony Jr. could see his dad on the field.

In August, Jada posted two photos of her holding their son with the caption, “football + my mini.”
