HBO’s Insecure has just launched its fifth and final season and it’s already had some startling revelations. The TV series follows the lives of Issa (Issa Rae) and her best friend Molly (Yvonne Oriji). Over the course of the past four seasons, we’ve watched the friends transition from their late 20s into their 30s as they’ve dealt with their romantic lives, careers, and friendships. It’s been a wild ride, to say the least.

Now, as we moved into the final episodes of season 5, the characters are going to be making choices that will change the course of their lives forever. It looks like there is one thing fans can expect from all of the characters this season.

The final season of ‘Insecure’ focuses on one theme

As our favorite characters prepare to say goodbye on Insecure, the final season will focus on one theme. Insecure showrunner Prentice Penny revealed on Twitter, “Are we gonna be okay is the theme of the entire season. You should watch it from that lens.” As we saw Issa and Molly are desperate to repair their relationship. Molly is trying to reframe her life’s plan, and Issa is finally building the career of her dreams.

Kelli (Natasha Rothwell) is dealing with her identity and Tiffany (Amanda Seales) is grappling with motherhood.

Fans can expect unapologetic honesty from season 5

In addition to our beloved characters growing and changing, Penny says we can expect them to be more honest than we’ve seen them before. “Nobody’s holding back anything, so let’s see where that gets them,” he told Buzzfeed. “We always viewed this season as the characters’ lives are not ending, it’s just that the writers and the audience won’t be watching them anymore. We never wanted to write an ending. We always wanted to write it like this is the next phase of their lives, and if you were to watch Season 6, these are the stories we would be telling in this world.”

Will Issa and Lawrence get back together on ‘Insecure’?

Season 4 saw Issa and Lawrence rekindle their relationship after an extended breakup. However, just as they appeared to be back on the right track, Lawrence’s ex-girlfriend Condola (Christina Elmore) revealed was pregnant with his child.

At the end of the season 5 premiere, fans watched Issa choose herself over an uber-complicated situation with Lawrence. In the episode, Lawrence picks Issa up from the airport. As they exit the car when they arrive at her apartment she stops him. “Lawrence, I had a chance to think,” she says. Her voice trails off and the two just stare at each other.

Lawrence reluctantly nods and responds, “Yea, I know.” The impending birth of a new life is a lot for anyone, but there is still a possibility that the pair could get back together.
