Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs likely never imagined he’d turn 55 behind bars. Federal agents arrested the star in September 2024 following Homeland Security raids in March 2024. Combs celebrated his birthday on Nov. 4, 2024, at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Here’s what we know about what his birthday entailed.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is offered limited food options for his birthday

Sean “Diddy” Combs celebrated turning 55 behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center. While his legal team pushed for him to attain bail several times, multiple judges turned him down, deeming him a flight risk and also at risk of communicating with those who pressed charges against him. Combs will remain behind bars until his trial in May 2025.

So, what food was Combs offered for his big day? His day reportedly began with cereal, fruit, and a breakfast cake — typical daily offerings. For lunch served at 11 a.m., the prison offered Combs pasta with marinara sauce, meatballs, and a garden salad. Lunch occasionally comes with fruit or dessert, but Monday’s meal doesn’t include either. Combs could have chicken or tofu fried rice with black beans and carrots for dinner. The prison serves the final meal at 4 p.m.

In addition to the meals, Combs can purchase additional food items from the commissary. He can buy sugar-free honey, jalapeno wheels, peanut butter, Velveeta cheese, chicken stock cubes, tuna, turkey log with honey pepper, spicy beef sausage log, Spam, chili with beans, or unsalted crackers. Cookies, granola bars, and candy bars are also available.

Sean “Diddy” Combs will also receive a psych visit to celebrate his birthday. Larry Levine, the director and founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants, told DailyMail.com that Combs receives these visits to check on his mental health.

“He’s not really on suicide watch, but my inside source there tells me that there is someone coming by to visit with him several times a day, you know, to make sure that he’s OK,” Levine admitted. “He’s got somebody from the psychology department coming out to visit with him, so it’s like a game that they play with the inmates. Remember, he’s not playing chess. He’s in a cell by himself.”

Levine added that Combs likely receives special privileges, like extra showers weekly. “I don’t know how many. It probably varies,” he continued. “They’re giving them extra privileges.” He added that Combs lives a “lonely existence” behind bars, as he has “a target on his back” because of what he knows about many other high-profile people.

According to The Mirror US, prison expert James Pipe said Combs has the same “routines and regulations set for all inmates” despite his high-profile status. “As Combs awaits trial, he will experience the daily regimen shared by past high-profile inmates, with limited but structured access to basic resources,” Pipe added.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ kids wished him a happy birthday on the phone

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ kids support their father despite the allegations and lawsuits against him. Christian “King” Combs posted a clip to Instagram showing him with his brother and sisters as they sit around the phone and sing “Happy Birthday” to their dad. They have a bundt cake with frosting and candles.

“I love ya’ll. I love ya’ll so much,” Combs says over the phone to his kids as they tell him they miss him. “I can’t wait to see ya’ll. I’m proud of ya’ll — especially the girls. I mean, all ya’ll, just for being strong. Thank ya’ll for being strong and thank ya’ll for being by my side and supporting me. I love ya’ll. I got the best family in the world. It’s my birthday; I’m happy. Thank you all for giving me this call.”
