‘Into the Unknown’ from ‘Frozen 2’ earned a nomination at the Oscars

This past year was a pretty big year for Disney. Avengers: Endgame became the movie with the highest box office sales. Reimagined adaptations like Aladdin, Dumbo, and The Lion King premiered in theaters. Disney also released the sequel to its 2013 blockbuster, Frozen.

One song from this movie, “Into the Unknown,” even earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. This song was nominated alongside “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” from Toy Story 4. Although, some Disney fans were surprised that “Spirit” from the photo-real adaptation of The Lion King did not earn a nomination. (The song earned nominations are the Grammy Awards and the Golden Globes.)

Some suspected that “Into the Unknown” could win in this category. However, the award went to “I’m Gonna (Love Me Again” from the motion picture entitled Rocketman. Regardless, Frozen 2 was well represented at the award show, with Josh Gad having a moment to crack jokes and Idina Menzel singing a song from the sequel.
