Irv Gotti Once Claimed He Stopped Suge Knight From Exposing Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez was once allegedly very close to the late Murder, Inc. founder Irv Gotti before their deep fallout. Reportedly, Gotti’s bond with Lopez was so strong that he was willing to defend her against former Death Row CEO Suge Knight.
What Irv Gotti allegedly said to get Suge Knight to back off of Jennifer Lopez

One of the biggest urban myths in the music industry is that Knight possesses a sex tape featuring Lopez and her ex-boyfriend. Knight even reminded people these supposed tapes were still floating around, implying that they might’ve even been shown to Affleck. The hip-hop mogul theorized that law enforcement confiscated the tapes while raiding Diddy’s home, then exposed the tapes to the Argo star. Afterward, Affleck would never be able to look at Lopez the same again.
“I’m quite sure they probably called, and the FBI gave respect and a courtesy call to Ben Affleck. … I’m quite sure they said, ‘We’re gonna show you some things. It’s about your wife.’ When he sees the s*** that her and Puffy were doing and who they were doing it with, I’m quite sure they gave his a** those tapes. And I’m quite sure that he can never look at her the same,” Knight said on his podcast Collect Call With Suge Knight.
Diddy had already been spiritually hurt by his feud with Knight and Tupac. Knight held this alleged tape over the Bad Boy CEO’s head to hurt him even more.
If Gotti was to be believed, Knight would’ve released the Lopez sex tape years ago if it wasn’t for the Murder, Inc. producer. Gotti was famously known for collaborating with Lopez on a few projects that became hits like her and Ja Rule’s “I’m Real.” Their professional relationship led to a deep friendship between the two, which allegedly came in handy when Gotti heard about her and Diddy’s sex tapes. Gotti alleged he had a conversation with Knight, and dissuaded the West Coast native from exposing Lopez.
“I never seen the tape, first of all, but there were rumors Suge had a tape,” Gotti told VladTV. “And Benny Medina and J.Lo, they were a little worried about whatever he was talking about, whatever he was gonna do. And at that point, J.Lo’s like my sister. We were very, very cool. And Suge was like my man. And I just went to Suge, on my own, without them saying go. And I said, ‘What’s up, you got a tape?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’”
But Gotti told Knight that Lopez was affiliated with him and his Murder, Inc. brand back then, so she was off limits.
“’Yo, tell her she ain’t gotta worry about it, no one will ever see it,’” Gotti recalled Knight telling him after their conversation.
Irv Gotti revealed that ruining his friendship with Jennifer Lopez was his biggest regrets
It’s unclear just how much, if at all, Gotti might’ve reconciled with Lopez before his death. Gotti confided that he breached the Hustlers star’s trust when he revealed that a record she did some time ago was secretly about Diddy.
“So the phone rings, and it’s Elle magazine, and they say, ‘We want to get some quotes, with you and J.Lo,’ and I said some wild s***. She didn’t deserve that. They asked if ‘I’m Real’ was about Diddy, and J.Lo told them it wasn’t, but I was like, ‘Yes, it is!’ And I called her the B-word like an idiot. I was like, ‘That b**** is lying,’” Gotti recalled to BET.
Gotti made several attempts to mend his friendship with Lopez afterward. It’s unclear if Lopez was ever receptive to Gotti’s apology.
“I sent her flowers and roses. I apologized and I will continue to apologize for the rest of my life, and I will say, ‘I’m a f****ing idiot.’ But if she never trusts me again, I can’t blame her. I’m an idiot. Like that one, that’s my biggest regret,” he said.
