She’s been Regina George, and she’s been Elle Woods. For her latest music video, “Positions,” Ariana Grande takes on a bit of a more challenging role — President of the United States. Fans need not worry, though. She can switch positions

Could the singer behind “Thank U, Next” actually run for the highest office? Here’s what we know about the requirements for the job and Ariana Grande’s qualifications.

Ariana Grande takes on a presidential role for her music video, ‘Positions’

Grande is back and more powerful than ever, thanks to her “Positions” music video. Poised as POTUS, this star shows the many roles she would take on in the White House. That includes press conferences, meetings, and even “cooking” in the kitchen. (Sticking her head in the oven counts, right?)

Now, some Arianators are hoping this music video could come true, with Ariana Grande eventually running for president. Others notice the timing of this music video release, only a few hours after the final Presidental debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Does Ariana Grande meet the requirements to be President of the United States?

Could this pop star actually become the next POTUS? According to Article II of the U.S. Constitution, the president must be a natural-born citizen of the United States, be at least 35 years old, and have been a resident of the United States for 14 years.

While she’s proud of her Italian heritage, Grande is an American citizen who has been a resident for over 14 years (even though she’s traveled a considerable amount to perform.) Unfortunately, as of November 2020, this performer is 27-years-old.

That means she will have to wait at least eight years before running for office. She may be able to switch positions, but Grande is also considerably busy.

She performed a Hercules song during the Disney Family Singalong, appeared alongside Lady Gaga at the MTV Video Music Awards, and now released new content for fans to stream.

Ariana Grande often shares her love for Bernie Sanders

Although this pop star has no previous political experience, she isn’t afraid to share her endorsements with fans. During November 2019, Grande posted a picture with former Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

“I want to thank [Ariana Grande] for not only being a wonderful entertainer but also for being such an outstanding advocate for social justice. We must all be prepared – like Ariana has shown – to fight for everyone who is struggling. It was great to meet her in Atlanta last night,” Senator Sanders tweeted

Additionally, the “Breaking Free” singer often encourages fans to vote, having representatives from the organization headcount.org appear at her concerts.

Music by Ariana Grande, including the album, Thank U, Next, and her recently released single, “Positions,” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
