One of the reasons why Blue Bloods feels so authentic is because it is actually filmed on location in New York. The cast and crew travel to Queens, Brooklyn, East Village, and other nearby suburbs each week to give its millions of fans an up close and personal look at what it is like to fight crime on the mean streets of New York.
Where is the commissioner’s house in ‘Blue Bloods’?
The commissioner’s house has become one of the show’s staples. It seems like no matter what dramatic events happen on the show, the commissioner’s house is a safe place where the Reagan family can unwind and have a nice family dinner on Sunday. Although the inside of the home is actually just part of the Blue Bloods studio set that they have set up in the borough of New York, the actual house that you see on the show, however, is located in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn.
According to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, this gorgeous colonial-style house was built in the 1920s. It is owned by a Catholic group of people called the Maronites. If you are ever in the cozy little Brooklyn suburb, you can drive by 8070 Harbor View Terrace and get an up-close look at the iconic house for yourself. Just make sure not to trespass onto the property; it is still owned by someone after all.
Can you watch ‘Blue Bloods’ being filmed in New York?
Although the show is not technically filmed in front of a live studio audience, the show is being filmed in the actual location that the story takes place. This means that it is possible to be out and about in NYC and see the stars of the show in the middle of filming a heart-stopping scene right in front of you. There have been several instances where people have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the popular TV show being filmed. In fact, Donnie Wahlberg was caught on the steps of the New York City Courthouse.
There has also been another instance when the Daily Mail had spotted Donnie Wahlberg shooting an action-packed scene near one of the rivers in NYC. The show’s producers do not announce where they will be filming that week, however, because they film in several different locations, there is still a chance that you may get lucky enough one day to accidentally walk up on a live taping of the show.

According to the Blue Bloods Facebook page, fans have commented that the show does not schedule any tours of the set, however, many fans have said that if an actor sees you outside of the set, they do sometimes allow you to come inside and meet the casts and crew of the show.
