Is Evelyn Lozada Returning To ‘Basketball Wives?’
Fans are anxious for the return of Basketball Wives after an explosive season 8. One of the major storylines of the show for the past two seasons has centered around Evelyn Lozada’s issues with other cast members. She’s currently engulfed in a legal battle with another co-star and it looks like the drama from the show may be a factoring decision on whether or not she returns for season 9.
Evelyn Lozada’s last season of ‘Basketball Wives’ was tough
When Lozada returned to the cast after several absent seasons, she vowed her days of brutal arguments and physical altercations with her castmates were behind her. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for the previous behavior she became known for to resurface.
After mending fences with former BFF Jennifer Williams, their friendship was once against tested when Tami Roman made the cast aware of a vicious rumor Williams allegedly told her about Lozada having an affair with Shaunie O’Neal’s ex.
Lozada tried to move past their hiccup, but things went from bad to worse once Malaysia Pargo claimed that Williams spoke negatively of Lozada’s daughter. Lozada exploded and she and Williams were never able to mend fences, despite several attempts.
Lozada also clashed with newcomer OG. The two got into multiple verbal disputes that often involved Lozada criticizing OG’s looks and fashion choices. She once called OG ugly and the two bickered over OG’s claim that Lozada’s ex-husband flirted with her.
OG also accused Lozada of colorism after she made negative remarks about her appearance and called a castmate of Phillipino descent a racial slur. Lozada received tons of backlash and viewers called for a boycott of the show and Lozada’s firing.
Will Evelyn Lozada return to ‘Basketball Wives’ for Season 9?
Lozada fought hard against the colorism allegations towards her. She apologized for the racial slur against her co-star and vowed to do better. In terms of OG, she offered no apology and even sued her for defamation of character and loss of income, claiming that OG went on a smear campaign that caused her to lose out on financial deals.
The stress from the show appears to have gotten to her. Lozada recently answered a series of fan questions on her Instagram story pertaining to her show and her interactions with other castmates. When a fan asked her if she was returning to the show, Lozada responded, “Most likely no,” along with a winking face emoji.
This isn’t the first time Lozada left the popular VH1 series. After five seasons on Basketball Wives Miami franchise, she left to focus on her personal life following her split from Chad Johnson. The final season showed the aftermath of their split following the public embarrassment of their domestic violence incident.
After leaving Basketball Wives the first time around, Lozada had her own reality series on OWN. Livin’ Lozada aired for two seasons and chronicled Lozada’s life on the west coast with her daughter, son and former fiancee, Crawl Crawford.
