According to Us Weekly, the couple met through mutual friends, but Watson was not fully aware of who Jamie Lynn was.
“I’m just a normal guy with a normal job,” he said during the 2016 TLC special Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out. “I did not know about the family. I didn’t know she had a TV show. I didn’t know anything about her.”
The couple dated on-and-off for five years before getting married in 2014.

News. ”It’s gonna be a special relationship. Sisters are something special—especially when there’s that age gap there.”

“It’s so weird to think that I was working on a show at her age,” Jamie Lynn said. “I couldn’t imagine her doing a tv show right now, but then again she does play on travel sports teams and plays at a much more intense level then I ever could have at her age and she loves it, like I loved doing my show.”
Jamie Lynn added, “So, I guess, it’s all about what your kid is passionate about, and you support that no matter if it’s being on a tv show or being on a softball team.”
