Whether you are 16 or 65, chances are you have heard of O.J. Simpson. Once the millionaire star running back of the USC Trojans and the Buffalo Bills, Simpson made headlines when he was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman.

Nearly 22 years after the murder trial, the case got attention again when the events were turned into the 2016 limited series The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story and the documentary series OJ: Made in America, where a new generation saw the shocking story unfold. Now, 25 years after Goldman and Brown’s murders, Simpson is in the news again.

Did O.J. get away with murder?

Who could forget the scene of the Simpson’s white Bronco driving down the California highway as he was being followed by police as the prime murder suspect in the double murders? The chase and the subsequent murder trial captured the attention of millions of Americans as the trial played out live on national TV.

Simpson was represented by a team of powerful defense lawyers, including the late Robert Kardashian. Simpson’s defense claimed that the evidence simply did not merit a conviction. Johnny Cochran famously uttered the words regarding Simpson’s infamous black gloves, supposedly worn to the murder scene, “if it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”

Simpson was found not guilty of the murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, though many people believe that he did indeed get away with murder. Simpson maintains his innocence to this day and appears to have the support of all four of his children, including the two he shared with Brown.

Another crime put him away

O.J. Simpson kept a relatively low profile after the 11-month murder trial. That is until he made the news one September night in 2007. Simpson was accused of breaking into the hotel room of sports memorabilia dealer Bruce Fromong. He allegedly entered the room with a group of men and stole various sports items, including many that Simpson claimed belonged to him. During the ordeal, Simpson ordered his crew not to let anyone leave.

Many people called it karma when the former football player was arrested, tried, and convicted in 2007 for kidnapping and burglary. As Simpson never served time for the 1994 murders, the public found some sort of justice being served when Simpson was sentenced to 9 to 33 in prison. Simpson was convicted exactly 13 years to the date of his acquittal for the 1994 murders.

Is he free now?

On October 1, 2017, O.J. Simpson was released from prison after serving 9 years behind bars. After his release, the state of Florida said that Simpson was not welcome to live there, writing, “Our state should not become a country club for this convicted criminal.” Simpson has since taken up residency in Las Vegas.

Recently, Simpson has been keeping himself busy. One way he has been doing this is through his newly opened Twitter account. In a video statement published on Twitter, Simpson says that he finally has the chance to set the record straight and fight back about everything that people have been saying about him.

Just days after the 25th anniversary of his ex-wife’s death, Simpson appeared on Twitter addressing one long-standing rumor, namely that he is Khloe Kardashian’s real father. For years, fans have commented on the striking similarities between Simpson and the youngest Kardashian.

Khloe’s mother, Kris Jenner, was close friends with Brown and her father represented Jenner, so the story has all the juiciness of a great Hollywood scandal. But according to Simpson, that’s all it is. The former football player insists that he never had any romantic interest in Jenner, nor she in him.

He said that his relationship with Robert Kardashian was that of brothers and that the rumors are “bogus” and “tasteless.”
