According to Mikey Sutton, and reported on by well-known YouTube channel Everything Always, reports suggest that Wilson may go from the small screen to the silver one, taking on a pivotal villain role in the post-Avengers: Endgame landscape. Though mostly a comedy guy — with a few dramatic turns in his portfolio — Owen Wilson may take on big baddie Kang the Conqueror. Meaning, Loki will likely only be the beginning of the actor’s journey with Marvel Studios.

Owen Wilson’s Kang the Conqueror to debut in ‘Loki’: Why Owen Wilson?

According to Everything Always, Owen Wilson will join the MCU in Loki. Some recent time traveling in the universe will work in his favor. Everything Always cites Mikey Sutton, noting that multiple personnel within Marvel studio have come to Sutton with the same news. In short, due to all the time manipulation, Kang is bound to follow suit, as he is one of the most pivotal time-traveling entities in the Marvel comic book world.

Everything Always goes on to note the reasoning behind the somewhat controversial casting choice. Marvel Studios’ decision will inevitably be seen as a risk — as Wilson is known for operating in the comedic space. Yet, the rewards will pay off once viewers see his convincing take. Wilson, reportedly, has not laughed at all on the set, and he is said to be bringing all his dramatic chops to the table. When the movie comes out, Sutton believes the artistic risk will work in the studio’s favor with fans. So, who is Kang the Conqueror, and what level threat will he pose to the Avengers?

Who is Kang the Conqueror?

Kang the Conqueror is one of Marvel’s most infamous figures. He is a time-traveling entity who has appeared in several Marvel comics throughout the years via alternate depictions of the character.

Nathaniel Richards is the most recognized version of the character, and likely the one who would debut in the MCU. The Nathaniel Richards take is said to be a descendant of either benefactor Reed Richards or Dr. Doom, according to Marvel. Fandom. And, if the Fantastic Four are coming to the MCU, and multiple timelines are set to be a defining aspect of Phase 4, imagining a Kang introduction is not very far-fetched.

After becoming a Pharaoh, some run-ins with the Fantastic Four, and a series of mishaps, Kang winds up primed with the knowledge and technology needed to conquer earth. He conquers earth and then goes on to conquer various other galaxies. Kang is able to defeat so many, as he is armed with 40th-century armor capable of force-field, hologram, and energy protection. The suit also enhances his strength and allows him to manipulate other forms of technology.  With Kang’s unbeatable, better-than-Stark-level armor, the Avengers may be up against one of their greatest threats (without the help of Captain America and Iron Man).
