Is There a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Movie in the Works?
A Schitt’s Creek movie would be “simply the best.” Who wouldn’t want to spend more time with David, Alexis, Johnny, and Moira? And while several of the cast members are going out of their way to convince Dan Levy for a movie version of the show, will the plan ever come to fruition?
Annie Murphy keeps bribing Dan Levy to make a film about the Rose family
In a recent interview with US Weekly, Annie Murphy (who plays Alexis Rose) expressed how desperately she wants a movie version of the TV show. In fact, she wants this so much that she keeps bribing her on-screen brother about it.
“I mean, I’ve been sending Dan $5 a day in the mail as a bribe. So far, I have not heard back about a movie officially. But, oh, my God, I would be just over the moon if that ever came to pass. I miss everyone so much every day,” Murphy tells the magazine. “Just to see Moira again, I would pay a lot of money to do that.”
Dan Levy wouldn’t be opposed to a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ movie
During an interview with People (via Good Housekeeping,) Levy expressed how he wouldn’t ever say no to a film.
“It’s very flattering that people want to know, but I would just say generally I think you need to let the good things settle for a minute,” Levy said. “Let people finish the show. Let people take a breath.”
“I don’t think there’s a single person on our team, cast or crew, that wouldn’t want to come back for a movie,” he said. “But at the same time, I think the success of the show really was tied so closely to the care that was put into it and the quality that was put into it. If I can come up with an idea that I think builds on what we’ve already done in a way that feels good and exciting and new and fresh and challenges our actors, then great. I go to sleep willing that idea to come to me.”
Annie Murphy has some ideas for a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ movie
When speaking to US Weekly, Murphy came up with some killer ideas for the Schitt’s Creek movie.
“Did David and Patrick adopt a kid?” Murphy wonders for the potential film. “I sure hope Alexis doesn’t because I think she is perhaps not quite in that yet, but I don’t know. I just want to see everyone on screen again, and I will be a happy camper… We were very lucky to have an amazing group of writers on this show. My mom and dad have been rewatching the show because they miss me, and my mom keeps reminding me of lines that I’d completely forgotten about.”
Furthermore, if there ever is a movie, Murphy hopes that Alexis and Ted end up back together.
“I hold out hope,” Annie tells Us Weekly about their rekindling. “I think that maybe it would be one of those relationships where they let each other go and thought it was final and then maybe drift into each other’s worlds down the road.”
