‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’: 3 of the Funniest Episodes to Get You Excited for the Season 15 Premiere
Christmas arrives early for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans. The long-awaited season 15 premiere hits FX on Dec. 1, 2021, and the entire gang is back for TV’s longest-running live-action sitcom. We already know Dee, Mac, Charlie, Dennis, and Frank tackle the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Plus, we know they head to Ireland for a few episodes. But before we get to the upcoming Always Sunny season, let’s take a look at three of the show’s funniest episodes to get you pumped up for the season 15 premiere.
‘Always Sunny’ Season 11, Episode 1: ‘Chardee MacDennis 2: Electric Boogaloo’
We expect nothing but the worst from the group of emotionally stunted adults who own Paddy’s Pub in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Of course, their idea for a new board game is beyond twisted. Charlie, Mac, Dennis, and Dee want to pitch their vision for the game to an interested board game executive. However, Frank gets left out of the deal. From mainlining wine into their veins to taking a super-strong laxative to see who can “hold it the longest,” it involves some pretty horrific tasks.
It’s not long before they discover that the executive, played by the always excellent Andy Buckley, was hired by Frank to get revenge. Instead of a laxative, Frank gave them a powerful mind-altering drug. In the end, there aren’t any winners, but isn’t that always the case with the Always Sunny characters?
‘Always Sunny’ Season 4, Episode 2: ‘The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis’
Never a group to turn down a challenge or an opportunity to swindle some money out of people, the Always Sunny gang decides to help lower the gas prices. Charlie, Mac, and Dennis take matters into their own hands and try to but up as much gasoline as they can to sell it door-to-door. As the designated “wild card” of the group, Charlie dons a giant hat and Texas accent but only ends up terrorizing a homeowner.
In the meantime, Frank thinks that Dee and Dennis’ biological father, Bruce, gave away their inheritance. He and Dee get to work spying on him. However, it’s not long before Frank becomes convinced Dee wants to murder him. He resorts to waterboarding her with the pub’s urinal. Thankfully, Mac decides they need Dee and Frank. They choose to combine plans. However, their way to torture Bruce, Charlie confesses he cut the breaks on the van because he’s the “wild card” and jumps out. Some might think this is one of the more bizarre plot lines of the series, but no, it’s par for the course for Always Sunny.
‘Always Sunny’ Season 9, Episode 7: ‘The Gang Gets Quarantined’
The flu descends on Philadelphia just as the gang prepares to enter a singing contest hosted by Boyz II Men. The Always Sunny group decides to voluntarily quarantine themselves inside Paddy’s Pub to wait it out. Frank is apprehensive and becomes fixated on all the germs people potentially carry around in their hair. Dennis secretly orders a pizza. However, when the group finds out, he gets banished to the pub’s bathroom – “a quarantine inside a quarantine.”
It’s not long before Dee, Mac, and Charlie start to show symptoms too. They end up in the bathroom as well. With their fate sealed, they decide to use their final hours drinking a stash of alcohol Charlie hid under the sink. To everyone’s surprise, as soon as they start drinking, their symptoms begin to fade. They learn they never had the flu and instead had withdrawal symptoms because they’re all alcoholics. They happily exit the bathroom to find Frank, completely bald, slithering on the floor, and covered in hand sanitizer.
