Jack Harlow Wrote a Song About Dua Lipa on His New Album ‘Come Home the Kids Miss You’
Chart-topping rapper Jack Harlow has become a Gen Z heartthrob practically overnight. The Louisville, Kentucky-bred MC notoriously keeps his personal life private, and his love life is largely a mystery. But with a new song on his new album Come Home the Kids Miss You, Harlow is openly shooting his shot at none other than fellow hitmaking artist Dua Lipa.
Jack Harlow wrote a song about Dua Lipa
Jack Harlow rose to fame in the late 2010s, with his 2020 single “What’s Poppin'” reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He released his debut album That’s What They All Say that same year.
Harlow’s sophomore album, Come Home the Kids Miss You, is due for release in May 2022. Ahead of the album’s release, Harlow unveiled the tracklist for the LP. The project contains features from music industry heavyweights like Drake, Pharrell, Lil Wayne, and Justin Timberlake.
“Dua Lipa” appears on the tracklist, not as a featured artist, but as the title of a song. Harlow teased the track on his Instagram, sharing a snippet that included the lyrics “Dua Lipa, I’m tryna do more with her than do a feature” as he plays the song in his car.
Jack Harlow is a fan of Dua Lipa
Though Lipa is a smash pop singer and Harlow is a rapper, Harlow admires Lipa as an artist. At the 2022 Grammy Awards, Harlow was asked on the red carpet about who he was excited to see inside.
“Dua Lipa,” he said plainly. “I like Dua Lipa.”
When asked if he would collab with Lipa in the future he answered in the affirmative. “Nothing but respect for Dua Lipa.”
Both Jack Harlow and Dua Lipa have exploded in recent years
The 2020s have seen the rise of both Harlow and Lipa as world-renowned artists. Harlow first made a name for himself as a rapper alongside respected MCs on the scene. And with his first No. 1 hit on the Hot 100, the 2021 Lil Nas X collab “Industry Baby,” he proved that he was a talent to be taken seriously.
In March 2020, Dua Lipa released her acclaimed sophomore album Future Nostalgia. The unfortunate timing of the album’s release meant that fans couldn’t dance to the disco-pop tracks out in the clubs because of coronavirus (COVID-19)-related lockdowns.
“I’m really excited to put this album out now to give people time to live with it and listen to it when they’re at home,” she said at the time of the album’s release in an interview with Variety. “I’ve already been waiting for so long to put this record out, and I think the fans are really excited for me to put the record out. And so I just thought I’d be doing them a disservice to delay it, especially during this time.”
Lipa was finally able to embark on her Future Nostalgia tour in 2022.
