Jackie Kennedy Was Reportedly ‘Horrified’ by Madonna’s Relationship with JFK Jr.
Madonna has had high-profile relationships with celebrities like Sean Penn, Guy Ritchie, and Vanilla Ice. She was also once allegedly involved with a member of one of America’s most famous political families. Though details of her brief relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr. are sparse, sources say that his mother, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, was ‘horrified’ by their affair.
Is Madonna married?
In 1985, Madonna and Penn met on the set of her “Material Girl” music video shoot. They formed a friendship that soon blossomed into a romance. They married after just six months together and later starred in the film Shanghai Surprise. They eventually split in 1989.
In 2000, Madonna married Ritchie soon after giving birth to their first child. They adopted another child before divorcing in 2008. Rumors abounded that the split cost Madonna at least $76 million.
Madonna is currently dating one of her backup dancers, Ahlamalik Williams. Per Yahoo, they first met in 2015, when he auditioned for her tour. The couple has been together since 2018. They’ve faced some criticism for their age difference, but they appear to be happy together.
“Love has no age,” Williams’ father told TMZ. “My son is livin’ la Vida Loca, and I’m just happy for him.”
Jackie Kennedy Onassis allegedly disapproved of Madonna’s relationship with her son
Long before her relationship with Williams, Madonna reportedly dated Kennedy after her split from Penn. According to a friend of Kennedy, Madonna’s personality drew him to her.
“I think she gave it right back to him and she teased him and she was irreverent and he liked it,” the friend told People.
Ultimately, both their busy schedules made it difficult to carry out a relationship. The fling fizzled out quickly.
“The flirtation kind of continued and they would try to get together but it was hard because she was on tour and he was working,” the source explained. “They saw each other a few times and they had a flirty and friendly banter but it wasn’t a ‘relationship.’”
Still, the flirtation had an impact on Kennedy Onassis. In Carly Simon’s memoir, Touched by the Sun: My Friendship with Jackie, the singer detailed how the former first lady felt about Madonna.
“Jackie was very consumed with getting him on the right path,” Town & Country reports that Simon wrote. “She didn’t approve of some of [the women]—she was horrified by Madonna.”
According to InStyle, Onassis Kennedy disapproved of Madonna’s use of religious iconography in her music or the fact that she was technically still married to Penn when she met Kennedy.
The singer shared her dating advice years after facing Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ ire
Madonna says she’s learned a great deal from her dating history. She shared her tips for relationship success with the Daily Mail.
“The older I get, the more I understand about the nature of relationships and how to have a successful one,” she said. “The more I realize that it has to do with compromise and sacrifice and that’s just the way it goes. And unless you want to be alone for the rest of your life you have to realize that.”
