Jacob Collier Calls Olivia Rodrigo ‘an Angel and a Total Rockstar’
After shifting from being a Disney+ actor to a songwriter, Olivia Rodrigo earned millions of Spotify streams and Grammy nominations. She also earned praise from fellow musicians, including the Djesse Vol 3. artist Jacob Collier, who called Rodrigo “an angel and total rockstar.”
Jacob Collier had a cameo in the Disney+ special, ‘Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film)’
Collier is a Grammy Award-winning artist known as a “musical genius” by many fans. Described as a friend and fellow musician of the Sour performer, Collier hung out with Rodrigo during her Disney+ documentary/music film Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film).
“I think the worst part about being in love is having something to lose,” Rodrigo said while sitting on the hood of a car with Collier. He replied, “oh, that’s a great answer.”
“I feel that way all the time,” Rodrigo continued. “Even just in all aspects of my life, even with my career, I’m like, ‘oh my god, I’m so grateful for all of these things happening’ But when you have something that’s so amazing, it just feels kind of scary because it’s like ‘what happens if that goes away?’”
Collier then asked how she transforms intense feelings into something constructive, like a song. Rodrigo said that storytelling doesn’t always come from a place of “devastation,” which is something she’s trying to teach herself.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever heard a song that really encapsulates that more than ‘drivers license,’” Collier replied. “And it just feels like you’re living that out in a good and painful way.”
