Jada Pinkett Smith’s Mom’s diet: Her Secrets to Staying Fit at age 67
Jada Pinkett Smith and her mom, Adrienne “Gammy” Norris-Banfield, both follow a strict diet to stay fit and healthy. Both women are in the public eye because of their Facebook Watch Red Table Talk series’ success. Although the show is on hiatus right now, both women share life updates on social media.
Jada Pinkett Smith’s mom was part of Will Smith’s health and wellness intervention
In 2019, Will Smith staged an emergency family meeting of the Facebook Watch Red Table Talk. When the family sat down, the Aladdin actor revealed his regrets about his terrible eating habits. Then he brought in a special guest, Mona Sharma, to have a “Smith family health intervention.”
Sharma is a leader in the health and wellness industry who now has a recurring Facebook series role. During the initial talk, she asked each member of the Smith family various questions. Jada Pinkett Smith’s mom admitted that her stomach is in a constant state of upset.
“I have an incredibly sensitive stomach,” Gammy admitted. “I just can’t figure out which foods do what because it just seems like everything upsets my stomach. So I just eat it and then deal with the upset.”
After everyone in the Smith family talked about their health habits, Dr. Mark Hyman administered family testing with Sharma’s assistance.
What is Jada Pinkett Smith’s mom’s diet?
When the testing results came back in December of 2019, Dr. Hyman explained that all of the family members had “leaky gut.” He recommended cutting out dairy and gluten, which could also be why Gammy was having trouble sleeping.
“You’re probably one of the healthiest of the bunch,” he told Jada Pinkett’s mom. “I looked at your age, and I’m like, Woah, is this a typo? But you also have stomach issues.”
Norris-Banfield is 67 and the eldest of Smiths’ group; however, she was already the healthiest during the evaluation. The doctor recommended she take a probiotic and remove gluten and dairy from her diet.
Dr. Hyman also recommended their diets to be “plant-rich” and cut out “fake food.”
From Gammy’s Instagram, viewers can see that she followed the doctor’s advice and starts her day with a “nutrient-rich shake.” On Jan. 12, she shared a video of her “Queen Afua Cleanse” that she and Jada both do together. She begins her morning routine with some tea and then juice. Her juice included kale, celery, beets, apple, carrots, and ginger on that particular day.
Jada Pinkett Smith and her mom both workout and do yoga daily
On her Instagram account, Gammy revealed that she loves to exercise. That is one of her three tips for living a positive life; treat yourself better. Her secret for treating herself well is exercising because she loves it, making her feel good.
She often shares videos of herself after her workout or mid-workout. Even with a hurt foot, Gammy explained that she tried to do a little bit. Gammy posts selfies in the mirror to help motivate her to get back in the gym. It looks like Jada Pinkett Smith’s mom’s secret to remaining fit and healthy at 67 is a daily workout routine and eating plant-based healthy foods.
