Jada Pinkett Smith Says She Wanted to “Fix” August Alsina and He Broke Things off With Her
For those who thought that August Alsina was lying about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith, you were wrong. Could he have exaggerated things a bit? It depends on who you believe. Smith brought herself to her famous red table to give her take on their relationship. She admitted that her relationship with Alsina transformed from platonic to romantic but that she and Will were separated and on the brink on divorce. She also said her desire to “fix” Alsina is what drew her to him.
August Alsina confirms rumors that he and Jada Pinkett Smith were once romantically involved
After years of claiming their relationship was strictly platonic, Alsina sat down with The Breakfast Club host, Angela Yee, and came clean about his relationship with Jada. He alleged that he’d received permission from Will to enter into a relationship with Jada, as their marriage lacked romanticism.
Alsina told Yee that he ended the relationship after realizing it nearly broke him. According to a year-old video from popular YouTuber Tasha K, Alsina’s family grew increasingly concerned about his relationship with Jada and felt that Jada preyed upon and used Alsina during his most vulnerable time.
Still, Alsina said that with Jada, he experienced a love that he’d never felt previously.

According to the Smiths, they were not only separated at the time that Jada began a different form of “entanglement” with Alsina, but they were also not speaking and confident their relationship was over. Jada revealed that she was so “broken” and “just wanted to feel good.”
For Jada, while romantically involved with Alsina, she realized she had codependency issues and had a superhero complex about her, which she says led to her desire to save and “fix” everyone. She initially sought to help Alsina with his mental and physical health before they became intimate and explained that her downfall was trying to save him.
“I had to learn to break [my codependency] in this cycle, the idea of needing to fix and being drawn to people that need help…whether it’s your health, or whether it’s your addictions – there’s something about that childhood trauma that feels as though it can be fixed through fixing people versus fixing me,” she told Will.
It’s unclear how long her relationship with Alsina lasted, but most sources claim that the two dated for three years. Jada also corroborated Alsina’s claim that he was the one who ended the relationship and cut off all communication with her.
Despite Alsina’s claim that he gave “all parties involved” a heads up before his sitdown with Yee, Jada said that she has not spoken to Alsina since he broke things off with her. More so, she finds the timing of his reveal to be suspicious.
“Through that whole experience…I was able to do some deep healing and as I came through certain things about you [Will] and I, he [Alsina] decided to break all communication with me, which was totally understandable and I let that be,” Jada admitted. “I hadn’t talked to him since. So, it is a little weird that all this is coming out now since this was several years ago.”
Jada and Will say their relationship is now stronger than ever and they’ve reached a level of unconditional love that they lacked prior.
